I'm in the market to replace my old PC jigsaw. I have several festool products and just bought the Domino. I really like all of the festool products. My question is how does the the Trion compare to the Bosch 1590 and does the Trion use other brand name blades or only festool blades.

The Trion can use any of the standard Bosch t-shank blades.  I have a lot of the Festool blades and they're great, but when you need something else immediately, it's nice to be able to run to Lowe's or HD and pick something up.  I upgraded from a POS B&D, so I can't make any comparisons to the Bosch.

The Trion and Bosch are pretty much on par with each other.  WHat I like about the Festool are the FSG blades.  What I don't like is that sometimes it's hard to see the blade.  I have a review on my web site of the Trion

FWIW, I have both a Trion barrel and Bosch 1590EVSK top handle. I bought the Bosch AFTER the Festool. Here's why...

#1) I prefer a throttle on the trigger rather than a two-hand speed change using the dial. Just my personal preference...

#2) The dust collection on the Trion is fine *IF* you keep the clear shield in place. The problem is that while it's in place, you cannot see the blade on the cut line. Once you take it off, dust collection is pretty much non-existent. There are workarounds to this which have been discussed here on the board.

The Bosch will at least blow away the dust so you can see the line more clearly. So far, I've been using the Bosch for woodworking and the Trion for metal cutting.

In my limited use of both tools, I find little difference between them as far as performance goes. Other members who use these tools more often can probably comment more fully on this.

i have the festool trion.i also have the bosch 1590 and a couple of 1587.i like the festool, but i wish it had the dust blower like the bosch.it is a little hard to see your cut with the dust shield.i like bosch, but i think the1587 is better than the 1590.the 1590 didn't feel right to me.i guess i'm used to the older model. i've had the trion for over a year now,and it's been allright.the trion does takes any t shank blades.

I already own the Bosch and I tried the Trion in the store (on pieces of MDO plywood that I typically use in my work).

What I noticed is that the sawdust fell mostly below the piece I was cutting, where the dust collection can't reach it, so it wasn't collecting half the dust. I don't cut material thicker than 2", so I'm not sure if there is really any cutting accuracy difference. I bought the Festool T55 circular saw, so I don't really seem to need a jigsaw that can follow the Festool rail.

Finally,  I have to agree with the post above that I'd rather have the Bosch blowing chips away from the line than the Festool sucking them up but not letting me see the line.

Will the Bosch 1590 or the barrel grib 1591 use the festool blades, especially the thicker ones?

thanks.

i never try to put a festool blade on the bosch, but i use bosch blades on the festool, with no problem.i would assum that festool blades should fit the bosch the same way.i use the  t101b bosch blades for most of my cut.i buy a box of 100 blades at a time. it's about $100.00.  dollar per blades!festool blades are a little harder to get than bosch.most lowes and home depot have the bosch brand.festool, you need to find a local dealer,or on line.a lots of dealers (on line)can help you with what you are looking for and most have fast delivery.

My father has used the Festool blades on his Bosch.  Don't remember which model he has though.
