I dont know what my Favorite is.  It always was the OF 1010 with the TS55 right behind it

Interestingly it may become my Trion.

As some of you may know I am now a Licensed Lead Abatement Supervisor.

When removing windows from the outside you must use hand tools  to pry the old outside stop  now this is often a 1x4 that is covered by another 1xS  and prying them usually means breaking them out.  This is the approved method in the guidelines.  (in an abatement you want to remove windows from the outside because if you seal the window from the inside and remove from the out you are not required to do wipe samples to pass clearance as the work area is outside the house. [big grin]  this saves like 2 hours in prep and clean and $150 if you would fail and need to retest per room.

BUT One of the things that I am responsible for and Authorized to do , is implement other methods of work and test them to fall within OSHA guidelines for lead dust in the work environment.  It is a detailed process involving air-sampling equipment and labs..... well the HUD guidelines Refer to a "HEPA SAW"  with drawing that Looks alot like a Trion.  So with the Wap HEPA , the front shroud  and splinter guard in place and using a deep gulleted 6 tpi blade and spraying down the work area Window frame with "Mop n glow" prior to deconstruction I conducted a air sample work process evaluation today.  I think I will pass the air sample test.  then We can use the trion like a clean room sawzall [eek]

I am required to  keep the data from this test  to show the state lead inspector, HUD, EPA, or OSHA if/ when they visit my site and ask why i am using a power saw [big grin]. I will let you all know more  when I get the results back.

So the Trion may be my new best friend.

ROCK ON!

Be aware, if the dust collection clogs up, your idea may still be viable; The dust collection on the Bosch jigsaw is not split to run into two thin passages. Rather, it's a tube that runs directly through the pivoting mechanism for the foot plate. It's wide open, and flows MUCH better than the trion. (IMHO)

So, if your idea doesn't pass with the Festool, i'm pretty sure there's a shroud you can get for the Bosch that will make your idea a viable option.

Well, I'm not a lead abatement supervisor like our friend Charimon but I do now have a Trion, and I just wanted to say that I love that damn jigsaw. Not sure if it's because it's my first barrel grip but using it properly for the first time tonight I was amazed at how delicate and stable it felt.  It is now, officially, my favourite tool. I have named her Matilda and told my wife that things between us will never be the same again.  She didn't seem too concerned to hear this news.

Anyway, I love my Trion.  [embarassed]

Rick
