I work for a company that makes GPS chips. Often thought of taking some of our defunct trackers and pop them inside some power tool boxes. Sure, can't track all the tools, but if they took just one with a tracker... Curiously, the boxes for the trackers look a lot like those stud finders at the big box [tongue]
my work van is a 1 ton diesel. you can't tow it, you need a flatbed
to move it. it weighs 10,500 lbs.
the alarm has a relay that disables the ECC on the van. you can't
hotwire it without knowing where that relay is buried. i'm the
one that put that relay in after the alarm was installed.
there is a second relay that can be remotely triggered by my cellphone,
killing the engine. the alarm also has a gps transponder, that will pop
up a map on my iphone where the van is at.
the bins inside are all rekeyed mul-T-lock.
so, after you trigger the alarm, you have less than a minute, to
grab and dash, before i get out the door with a shotgun. i live on a
cul de sac. my next door neighbors include one gun nut, one county
sheriff, and one secret service agent, and i qualified expert with
.38 super loaded major caliber when i used to shoot recreationally.
steal all the chain you can swim with. i lost a trailer with over $20k
of contracting tools 6 years ago, and i still have a 'tude about it.
may god help anyone i catch stealing the stuff i make my living with,
because they are beyond human aid at that point.
