TS 55 just stopped - dead - cold - in the middle of work. I bought it in 2008.

Is there like a hidden auto shutoff or fuse or something?

Last thing I did - - reached the end of the cut, let go of the switch, then I wasn't sure I was ALL the way to the end so my trigger finger kind of re-grabbed and let go and re-grabbed a bit , and the saw just quit.

I tested the same power cord on another Festool - -the power source is fine. It's the saw. Dead.

Crossposted at Talk Festool - - I hope crossposting is not a breach of etiquette?

Festool advertises a support tel#  800 554 8741 but it says "that mailbox is not active" - - ugh. They haven't gone out of business, have they?

Is it still dead?  It will shut off to protect itself.

Still dead - call Festool.

Yes, it's still dead. I don't think it could have overheated as I had only done about 8 cuts this session; but anyway I gave it enough time to cool, and that didn't help.

I'd like to call Festool if they have a contact# that works. They ARE still in business, right?

Sorry to have a conversation with myself. As to the tel#, I have been informed that it is a temporary glitsch and the company itself is in fine health.

Call b/w 8-5 EST.

Was it plugged into the vac?

Does anther tool work plugged in to the vac?

Does the saw work plugged into a wall recept?

Since the saw is under warranty there is no point in troubleshooting it yourself, but if it was older, this would be symptomatic of a worn brush. When the brushes reach a certain point, a spring loaded plunger is released to disengage the brush and prevent damage by using a worn brush.

Yes, Yes, No.  I like your post because it exactly describes my first three troubleshooting steps.

I would check the brushes as a next step.... I had mine go in my rotex 150 recently (~3years old hobbying only). I did exactly the same first three troubleshooting steps as WarnerConstCo. suggested, then checked the brushes and sure enough one had "pop" the spring loaded plunger.

BTW I was very surprised at how much the replacements were, AU$20 for a pair (maybe I just got an ripper of a deal from my Festool dealer)
