TS-55R Depth Adjustment

I've owned a TS-55R for 28 months, it was in fact part of my very first Festool purchase, it's cut what seems like miles of 8x4 sheets flawlessly throughout those 28 months, yet I've never ever wanted to use it off the guide rail in all that time. So today I finally got round to doing something I should have done ages ago - to remove the unnecessary depth set part of the pointer for use without the guide rail. This thing has confused and annoyed me enough when looking down from above and behind the saw when about to make a cut.
I was going to chop off the offending piece of plastic but decided that colouring it in with a black marker pen would do.

Ha!  I'm with you that the dual adjustment has screwed me up a few times.
Good, simple solution!

Though now that I think about it, I'm probably going to do black electrical tape in case I ever want to reverse it.

Black tape so simple, can't believe I didn't think of that, rather than just getting used to remembering about both settings.

[member=44323]CableFarm[/member] : There's no difference, there isn't an updated model for the TS 75 EQ yet. (it's just the full model name). What Jobsworth meant (I think) is that he has the previous model (the TS 55 EQ) versus the TS 55 REQ.

(The depth indicator on the older model only shows the depth off the track, the R version has a stepped indicator which also shows the cutting depth on the track; Woodwork Wizard experienced the stepped indicator as confusing, so he blacked out the part that shows the depth off the track.)
