When depth stop is set to 0 the saw blade does not reach to the surface of the material by about 1.5 mm. This is off the guide rail and with Festool stock blade. If this was the other way around (the blade reaches too deep) it could be adjusted with a depth screw on top of the depth stop. In my case the blade simply can’t go any lower. All parts seem to be where they should and there is no damage of any kind. Has anyone else seen this? It’s a minor nuisance, but still something I would not expect from a $600 tool.

P.S. I did not check blade diameter, but this is a new blade that came with the saw.

Do you have the splinter guard on the saw?  The guard would hold the saw up by about that much.  While on the rail, it should just touch at the 5mm mark.

On the rail  and the saw set to 0    the saw should be 5mm from the top of the surface.   So when your saw is on the surface when its on 0 it should just hit the surface.    IF this is not the case then either some adjustment is needed or something is wrong.

I have not had this problem with my TS55 and TS75.    You need it to read correctly as it would annoy you when you set it to certain depths as they wont correspond .   To me it would be more than a minor nuisance.

The splinter guard was not attached to the saw. The saw was on a flat surface and at 0 deg. bevel.
I'll check what it reads when on the rail later today. You might be right. I remember measuring rail thickness and it was just under 4 mm. Hence, when on the rail 0 cutting depth will read 5 mm. Since it is almost exclusively used on the rail even reading (5 mm) is more important.
Thanks.

It seems I was wrong about guide rail thickness.  I measured it again to the top of green slide strips. It is exactly 5.00 mm. The blade diameter is 209.5 mm.
Bottom line: the depth scale/stop is clearly 1.5 mm off. I think I’ll contact Festool about it. Meanwhile I could put a sticker on the depth stop with the indicator in the right place (I’d hate to cut off 1.5 mm off the stop itself).
