TS 75 Plunge kickback

When I first plunge a cut on a 24x 2" board of black walnut, I get a bit of kickbackthat tears the end grain of the walnut.  This happens everytime.  I have the MTF 1080 and have to cut the 24" board by plunging at the end of the board due to the length of the rail and the size of the board.  I plunge slowly and hold my left hand on the saw to steady it.

Is there a technique to plunge cutting with these saws that I need to do?  What am I doing incorrectly?  Any advice will be welcomed.

There is a limit stop that attaches to the rail that keeps the saw from kicking back.  It is part number 491582, but one should have come with the saw.  Mine is attached to the saw, right behind the rear guide alignment knob.

Also make sure that the saw is up to full speed.  I have had mine kick back when not up to full speed before plunging.

I strongly agree with the last post.  I have a TS 55 and the only times I have experienced any sort of kickback is when the saw is not up to full speed and I try to plunge it into the workpiece.  If your guide rail is long enough, best practice is to position the saw so if plunged the blade would still be fully behind the work piece, allow the saw to reach full speed, then fully plunge, then advance the saw.  Zero kickbacks, unless you hit a significant piece of metal.

Two cents here, but the first time I plunged my TS75 it kicked like a mule. Today I used my stop, revved it up and all was fine. Still, I tell you I have a death grip on that thing!
