TS55 base plate holes?

Hello Everyone,

The base plate (or shoes base) of a TS 55 has two holes (see attachment). Does anyone knows what are they used for?

The hex holes hold a nut that is then used to clamp the parallel guide with a threaded knob from the other side. Said nuts are provided with the parallel guide (#491469)

If you look careful in the bottom right you can just see a part of said nuts.
