ts55 parallel guide fence

Hi all just received my new ts55 r after deciding my atf 55 has seen better days now I'm looking at getting the parallel quid fence for it but I believe you cannot lock the saw down I was just wondering on people experience with using this as I can imagine pushing down on the saw and into the timbre (to keep the fence running true on the wood) is going to be awfully difficult or am I mistaken?

I'd imagine it's not so bad with sheet materials but we're it would really be awkward would be say ripping down a 4 by 2 in half

Yes, it is posible. I cuted lumber few times ago. You need stop blocks  on your guide rail, that solution fix kick  Back.

Then yes it will do what you want.

You may find it easier if you clamp the workpiece or at least have a stop of some kind to prevent it moving.
An additional piece under the rail will probably help with stability too.

Yes I'd agree with Wat your saying the second one is better but I do slot of site work and occasionally you need to rip I dunno say 20mm of some 4 by 2's and the quickest way with least set up time is put the fence on a standard skill saw and rip the 20mm off on some tressles.

With my atf it was not possible to do this so I carried a normal saw around aswell but now I have the option of the fence I'd like to ditch the other saw but I just think its gonna be awkward as the saw don't lock down

I have used the parallel guide (not guideS which is the set) to rip 2 x lumber.  It works but you are fighting the spring pressure at the start of the cut.  Additionally if you look at the images of it mounted on the saw there is virtually no extension in front of the saw base which can lead to rocking and some inaccuracies in width at the beginning of the cut.

I like the accessory but for other uses.

I got the fence when I bought my saw a few years ago thinking I would need it but probably only used it 5 times. As you said it feels awkward pushing down on the saw to plunge and sideways to keep fence tight to workpiece, gets you out of trouble if you need it but not really what the saw is designed for.

Yh much as I though I will buy it for exactly that just to get me out of trouble if I no I have to rip down a few I can just chuck the skill saw back in the van cheers
