TS55EQ housing to blade distance (not REQ)

I was wondering what the distance from the vacuum port bump out, to the inside of the blade (including the blade kerf)  is on the old TS 55 EQ?   i am wondering how close you can get it to a wall or other vertical structure while making a 90* cut.

I realize that unlike the REQ, you cannot run the housing of the saw along a wall because the bump in the rear of the housing will make the saw want to pull into the wall.

A second question is, if you have the Cover Plate installed, does that extend out equal or further than the vac hose bump,   if further what is that distance from the cover plate to the inside of the blade (including blade kerf)

Thanks in advance

Hard to accurately measure, but it is approximately 3/4".

This thin accessory does not increase the 3/4".

BTW, I find this cover plate accessory fairly useless. It is not adjustable heightwise, and is of little use when using a guide rail, as it misses the wood you are cutting by 5mm, and hence barely increases the dust extraction. It also hides the markings for plunge cutting. Would have been nice if it was adjustable and made of Plexiglass so you could see through it.

Thanks for the fast response!  i was thinking the easiest way to measure would be to use a square,  set one leg on the underside of the saws base and slide the whole square until perpendicular leg touches the furthest point of the bump. them simply measure from the motor side of the blade to the leg of the square that is parallel to the blade. (maybe engage the fast fix to make measuring easier)      regardless of that im sure your 3/4 is close enough.

with the cover plate on, does the hose port still extend beyond the cover plate or is is now flush/recessed?

im trying to find out if there is an easy way to make a ts55eq have a flat housing like the req  also how much more material this EQ setup will remove when say running the saw along a wall, i think this distance for the req is 1/2" or ~ 13mm

Thanks
John

How close do yo want to get?  I haven't tried this, but use the parallel guide on the right side of the saw, push it all the way in (without touching the blade of course) and see how close that is.

The hose port still extends beyond the cover plate if the cover plate is tight to the saw, but ah ha(!), the cover plate can be adjusted away from the saw (it is on two long rods). If you do this ever so slightly (perhaps 1/32 - 1/16", and evenly, front and back) you could sort of achieve your flush housing scenario. So maybe this otherwise dubious accessory does have a use!
