Hello!

I am a new member to the forum and Festool!

After many months of looking and comparing other brands i decided to take the plunge and invest in a TS55R package including x2 1400mm rails, connectors, rail bag, and a pair of lever clamps.

With it being such an expensive and awesome piece of kit i want to get the set up perfect, and also learn any tricks and tips others may know on set up and use. Are there any articles on here or the net to read so as to help?

Whilst looking into the saw i came across the forum and read a few bits and pieces... Its safe to say i have been bitten by the festool bug and it looks like the TS55 is just the tip of the iceberg!

Many thanks!

Speaking of the "r",any idea when it will
be in NA?
I like the flush(er) cutting ability & want one.
Thanks,Chuck

That video was fanstastic. Is Rick a Festool employee? He does all the supplementals right?

That makes me want a TS55r even more. I gotta put it on hold since you really need a MFT/3 with it.

No. Haven't you noticed that all Festool employees are mute? I still have the power of speech, so I can't be an employee.  [big grin] [tongue] [poke]

Laurie Bergren (Hasslefactor) and I made that video several years ago. It was a lot of shooting jammed into just a few days, and then a ton of editing by Laurie to put it together.

Some days we were shooting as late as 3 or 4 am. Do you know what happens to people's minds that late at night? Here's a clue...

Here's an interesting little warning for those guys that like to just toss the manuals in the trash after opening the box. The factory manual for the TS55R has been getting kicked around my office floor for a couple months. Yesterday I picked it up, wiped off the foot prints, and thumbed through it to search for something. To my dismay, out fell an imperial depth gauge sticker for the saw.  [eek] [eek]

I haven't confirmed that this will be in the final package yet, but I suspect it will be. It was a bit of a shock to me to find this. I hadn't heard any previous rumors about it, but that's probably because it would be only for the U.S. market. So you'll finally have your choice between metric or imperial depth settings.

Many thanks to Peter Halle for the youtube video! Came in handy and the saw is all set up now!

Now to invest in some more festool kit!

Can anybody tell me the max power take off for the Festool 110v MIDI dust extractor? Seen some conflicting specs on various websites, one saying the max for 110v is 500w and others saying 2400w. I have a dewalt chopsaw that is 1600w and need an extractor with a power take off capability to match that wattage or exceed it.

Many thanks!

There goes the whole Festool system....

You are welcome, but if I hadn't found that one of our other searching members would have posted it.

Regarding the max load that can be attached, if I read correctly it is 500w.

Attached is the PDF manual with the UK version.

Generally speaking, the outlet on the vac is limited by the "mains power" as you call it over there. Your 110 volt transformers are typically limited at 13 or 16 amp circuits. (In the U.S. these are 15 or 20 amp circuits.) The internal components of the vac can handle the full power from a U.S. 20 amp circuit, so your 16 amp circuit would be the limiting factor, not the vac. In other words, you will trip the mains circuit breaker before you overload the vacuum's internal components.

Hey Rick,

I don't know why but that blade change video had me laughing harder than I have in quite awhile. Good job and thanks!

+1
Made a great start to my day - sure I'll be chuckling on/off for the next few hours.
Richard.

I don't know what possessed us to shoot that blade change video. It was so late at night that we were "slap happy" or something. We had just finished shooting the real blade change scene--which of course went a lot smoother--and were so tired that we didn't realize just how squirrelly we were.  [big grin]

When she was shaking the saw to get the arbor flange out, I thought for sure she was going to hit me in the head with the saw. I was afraid that if I didn't do something fast, she would start shaking it again.  [eek]

Over on this side of the pond we don't have the "R" version yet ...

How come new version is still not available? It was out on European market in April 2012. I don't get this why such a delay, but on the other hand I'm happy to have one (finally). ;D
