TS75 needed - borrow?? Don't hit me!

I know, I wouldn't lend out my Festools either, EXCEPT to another Festool user. Here's my problem - I have a TS55 and rails (many other Festools too), but I'm cutting the 3 degree bevel on the latch side and trimming 6 solid poplar interior doors and I've discovered my TS55 won't cut through. I'm probably 1/2" short. I'd love to just get it cut in one swipe instead of cut, hand cut, and plane. SO, I'm asking if anyone in the central Ohio area would loan me a TS75 for a few days. There would be a fine micro-brew beer of your choice at the other end. I would do the right Festoolian thing and just buy one, but I'm not doing doors again.
OK, I'm ready for the lashing....

*Note - I'm using a Lie-Nielsen butt mortise hinge plane to let in the hinges. It works great.

Thanks, Kevin

Not sure if borrowing post is even allowed.

I don't think it's not aloud but your asking a lot from some who does not know you at all.

If I was in your area I would say I'll do the job for you either bring the doors 2 me or I'll come to the job.  I live by one rule i never borrow some ones tools nor do I ever lend.

Ill use peoples tools on a job if we are working together as they would be using mine no point having two jigsaws out to chop saw out  you know what I mean but lending is a no no.

I work for this company who keep on trying to lend me stuff all the time.  Oh you can borrow the sthil saw I say no its okay I have my own you can borrow this and that and I always say I either already have at tool and if I needed it I would just go out a buy it.  I think they wan't to borrow some of my tools but unless I borrow theirs they can't borrow mine.  I think they are after borrowing my sand plaster!  They are not having it hashahaa

Are these custom extra thick doors?

I’ve cut doors as much as 1-3/4” thick with my TS55.  You need to regulate the cut rate, but it should reach through…  unless your blade is the wrong size or something is set wrong (like depth stop)?

I did think that and he's 1/2" short aswell apparently  but I just assumed he knows what he is doing and must be a super thick door and I would not want to be the person the hang them doors and they must be super heavy aswell!

I'm in south west Michigan so I don't think I would be much help.  However, we have a small group of Festoolers around that swap tools regularly.  I am currently borrowing a ts55 while someone else has my ts75 and last week I loaned out my domino and two bags of 6mm tenons.  We all benefit from the pool and it allows others to test drive equipment.  I think my shop is going to purchase a ro150 after using mine to sand panels last night.

you could use a router and a door leading edge bit (not sure of the angle but in the ball park). at least you would have it and not have the posibility of breaking someones tool

I just checked the catalog and Festool states it will cut to 2 1/8" so maybe I've not set the depth stop correctly. I've only cut up to 3/4" on the mft. I use Festool blades, so it's not a small blade. The doors are standard interior solid poplar doors - 1 3/8 thick. Nothing too big, although they are heavy. I ended up trimming up and beveling the edge with a L-N #4 and it worked beautifully. Probably a better choice than a saw cut - allowed finer tuning.
I would only loan tools (hand tools and Festools) to one friend who is a pro, so I understand the comments. But, I would like it if a group of Festoolians would loan items to each other instead of duplicating rarely used items. Makes sense. Four neighbors and I purchased a leaf vac, small tiller, chain saw, and a 7hp mulching machine. We each keep a tool and we freely use any time we need them. Works out fine.
Thanks guys. Kevin

Kevin:

You can cut 50mm deep on the guide rail. It should handle it easily.

I have trimmed several interior doors perfectly with a TS 55.

Another way to help doors close is with the HL 850 Planer and it's Angle Stop attachment.

The planer is super smooth and leaves a very smooth cut. It's also pretty quiet and the chips can be collected as usual.

thanks for the suggestions, Tom. I'll check the depth of cut tomorrow. I must have not had it set correctly.

tom is right.

you should have no problem cutting 2 inches deep.

i do this regularly too, but i call it 50mm!!!

Well, I found out that the green zero clearance thingy was not cut all the way through and IT was stopping the blade from full extension. So I set the 3 degree bevel, set the depth where I needed it, and proceeded to make a beautiful cut on the doors. Now I'm thinking I wouldn't let myself borrow some of my own tools! Thanks for the comments fellas.

the green zero clearance thingy is something i dont use much, screw it off, and leave it off, if you dont need a splinter free edge on the right side of the blade.
