Hello, when using this saw with a track in a plunge cut. how close can to the ends of the track will I be able to cut? Material is 1 1/4" thick, and this cut will be occurring in a situation where it is not possible to extend the track much beyond the desired ends of cut. Because this cut must be very precise, I am trying to get some idea of how much of the cut at each end that I will need to manage with a different method. Thanks for your thoughts.

You can cheat at the beginning end of the cur with the limit stop that was included with your saw.  arch that the the beginning end of the rail and that will prevent kickback at the start of the cut.  AT the end of the cut:  The saw was two round knobs on the base that adjust the saw to your rail.  If you are cutting on the track and both those knob position are on the rail you have control.  Once one of those slides past then the accuracy of that end of the cut falls into your muscle memory range.

If you are up against an obstruction at each end  so that the track can not extend beyond the work piece .............  about 4" - 5" of uncut material at each end.
