Two New Centrotec Curiosities... ???

It's listed as a pricking awl

The hand driver is odd it locks on the hex bit part of all the centrotec stuff rather than locking round the centrotec groove.

Interesting. Will it lock on to non-Centrotec bits as well?

well i am looking forward to looking into this myself next week while I am in Europe and pick up my 2015 installers set waiting for me with my parents and some other stuff....

Yes it does, see picture below.
But it's a departure from the Centrotec principle.
I also wonder why the awl and the 6 square bits in the Centrotec 2015 CE systainer are not available separately?

Looks like the wiha bit holder stuck on the handle.

It IS the Wiha CentroFix bitholder indeed.

I've been trying to figure out if this'll fit Centrotec bits for a while now, do you know if it will?

Yeah Seth that's the point I was trying to make, it locks on to the tiny groove around all hex bits.

It doesn't fit the Centrotec CE chuck, because I have one at home and already tried it.
The 1/4" shaft is a few millimetres to short to make an extra groove like all CE bits/drills have.

All those lovely power tools and only one "Pointy headed attachment", how will you manage Frank! [poke]

OK, so on the hand driver it broadens the range of usable bits. Even though it defeats the Centrotec "anti-wobble" (  [smile] ) benefit ,that would not be a big deal on the hand driver.

It is quite bizarre and makes the Centrotec quick change chuck, that comes in the kit redundant.
Although having a spare one is very useful. And I guess that being useful is the whole point in having the kit in the first place.
My best guess would be there must be further developments for this new hand driver in the future.

Thanks!

When I saw that kit a month or two back, I suspected it was the wiha rapidfix/centrofix (oldname/newname).

Don't whine, it's an awesome bit holder.  [smile]

I had a screwdriver version (esd) such as this Festool, but gave it
away because the handle was their typical pH/pZ #1 size.

The festool branded centrotec one I have (which has tons of play) is #2 size.

If this driver is a #2 size, I'll be all over it.

Can anyone familiar with both confirm?

Here's a link to the wiha version

Random question... why do quick change ball detent power bit adaptors almost always have a quick change ball detent power bit shaft for a quick change ball detent power bit chuck ?

I can't make sense of it.

I'm afraid I can't answere that, but here is a picture of both hand tools together.[attachimg=1]

Thank you!

The Plastic Handles appear to be the same size (soft finish phillips or pozi #2).

Now I want, but how to fetch?  [sad]

hopefully it will get sold separately at some point (not holding my breath).
