I would guess the C15 or T15. Drills simply sell the best and having a 2 drill setup is a great advantage over a single drill.

C15, which was not the machine I would have thought to sell so well in the first couple of days. But why not, I still have a C12 NiCd at home and it's the first drill driver I go for....

It was the first one that came in my mind. It is also the one highest on my shopping list, as I already have a T15 to complement it. Getting by now with an older C12 NiCD as my 2nd drill, but the single battery is in a bad shape. [sad]

BTW, you didn't happen to mean the C15 was the price for the one who got it right, did you?  [wink]  [tongue]

The C15 would make a great prize but sadly the only prize here is the knowledge you picked the correct machine (although you hedged your bets and picked two machines). I'd love to give one away but you do realise that with the drop in prices here in the UK most Festool dealerships are becoming 'not for profit' organisations, we just sell them for love.

Best regards

It's a long story that I wouldn't want to bore everyone with, but basically the VW was ordered before August 2012, and we all know what happened that year don't we. Since then prices have tumbled, when once no discount was given, now you can get 20%, 24% and more off a tool and even more off accessories if you look around. Nearly all that discount comes out of the dealers margin, it's great for you guys and it's great for Festool. Fortunately for us we don't just sell Festool, so we manage okay.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning, the product is awesome, we have over 1400 lines in stock and I'm grateful for every order we receive from our customers. But I see very few new dealers coming onboard, the margin just ain't there to attract them in my humble opinion.

I may be wrong, who knows, maybe if you have a dealer in your area, ask them how they feel about Festool, I'd really like to know what they think about the current situation for resellers?

Anyway, my soapbox is straining under the weight, so I'll get off it now.

My local dealer started stocking Festool just before all the price cuts happened, all he does now is moan about it and describes it as cut throat so you are not alone Warren.

At the end of the day we all need to earn a living, so profit has to be made.

Price of festool to us is still a premium comparitelvely high priced tool and the acociated accessories similarly highly priced.

Yes i like to tools and hence i pay my hard earned money to have them, but prices have gone up over the years. (just an example i think i paid £730 plus vat for my kapex with a free blade -could be wrong but will try find invoice)

Before discounting my dealer would give around 10% of the tools value in the form of extra discount on any other product in his shop. (He still gave proper invoice due to accounting purposes etc). Also before discounting festool gave freebies with products, e.g. free blade with kapex, or rail/balde with ts55

Oh by the way i own a 51 plate nissan micra so i can feed my festool addiction!

You are correct, at the end of the day we all need to make a profit to pay the wages, rent, bills, monthly payments on the nice van etc.

And you are correct that some machines have a list price that has increased over the years by a large percentage, our Edge Bander offer demonstrates with timing these prices can be kept down for a while.

I would be curious about what your dealer now thinks and maybe you could let me know his opinions?

I'd just ask you not to confuse a high price with a high profit margin, its not the case.

And lastly I wouldn't make assumptions about people by the value of the car they drive....it can often be an illusion you can suck yourself into.

Total nightmare is what I have been told by more than a few dealers in the SE no one,I have spoken to  has anything good to say about them as a company.

You are all forgetting why festool dealers started to give 25% plus discounts, where before, as someone said you were offered 10% off accessories once you had paid full up for the tool.
The Competitions Commission fined Festool for what they found to be unfair trading practices, I think this is called robbery in layman's terms.
They have the same practices over here in France, full up with 10% off accessories, but then again France doesn't have and Competitions Commission. The dealers in France also moan about how difficult it is to sell and earn from Festool but I think that is just dealers for you, car dealers, antique dealers even drug dealers say they don't make anything.
