Client wanted large oak shelves either side of fireplace, nothing fancy just to provide a space for logs etc, didn't want any nude support but wanted to place large items on said shelves.
Solution was to take firewood logs and plane two flat edges and bond together and bond to floor and shelf.
When all logs are in you can't tell that middle ones are actually fixed and providing support.
As long as the clients happy..I'm happy.
