..::UPDATED::..New Festool C15, C12 and CARVEX

It looks as though the new C12 does indeed have a light. Here's a pic of the old model on the left and the new on the right:

Notice the rectangular panel at the top of the hand shield on the new drill! Looks like a light to me...

I hope you haven't bought that DeWalt cordless vacuum yet.  I just sold mine.  It sucked!  Oh, wait.  It didn't suck.  That's why I sold it...

That isn't a light.  It's a camera so you can document your work.  A new feature for drills in this age of internet forums and high liability insurance.

Which one was that?

Was it the DC500 mains/cordless unit...

...or the DC515 cordless only unit...?

If it was the former, what battery did you use? (It can be powered by 12V to 18V batteries).

What did you find specifically wrong with it? Didn't it run for long enough, or was the suction not powerful enough even when fully charged, or...?

Looks like a Phaser Death Ray to me, probably with built in mutation features when the clutch it set low..  [scared]

The DC500  I love it [big grin]  mainly because it  meets OSHA regs for HEPA think RRP.  I will admit that it is not a dust collector but it does great sucking up loose paint and debris from old windows (that is what I use it for).

Can you say different blade positions, different bases, FLUSH CUTS......
Hey Sean,
yep the different blade positions are killer, ease of changing the angle of the base without the allan key is also a big plus, you can easily put me down for 1 of each corded barrel and handle grip carvexes when they hit the floor. I might even scoop up a cordless one as long as it's not 500$.

In regards to the vacuums, I had the top one.  I never used it with a battery.  It was way too weak plugged in.  I don't know if it needed break in time.  I used it off and on for a couple of years.  It was good for drywall dust, but not much more.  They claim that they are good for cleaning the car.  They must mean if you spill salt or sugar packets from the drive-thru.  They don't pick up much else.  At least mine didn't.  Maybe I got a bad one.

Okay Lee, we're going to hold you to that. I want pictures posted the second you get home with these goodies. BTW, do you know the release date in the UK? Someone on another forum said next month, anyone know if that is right. I know we aren't likely to get them until next year so I'll be living vicariously through you.

My dealer tells me some time in March for the jigsaw, but this thread is the first i have heard about the c15.  I will call him tomorrow for more info but I'm away snowboarding for a few days so will let ya all know then.

NO NO NO! Silly People!  Its a Camera with a sophisticated computer chip inside the drill which looks at the size of screw your screwing in or hole size your going to drill and sets the Torque setting automatically. Then when you shine the the light which is also built in next to the camera on the wall is tells you how much batterie you have left. Also calculates how many more screws or holes you can do with the remaining batterie!  Its simple!

Quite a few European Festool sites have brochures like this one from Denmark:

[attachimg=1]

All the ones that I've seen so far mention April, eg:

Glaed dig til et fyrvaerkeri af innovationer fra april! (From the Danish website, which Google translates as "Look forward to a fireworks of innovations from April!")

or

Du kan se fram emot en ny trendsattare i april! (From the Swedish website, which Google translates as "You can look forward to a new trendsetter in April!", however our very own Swede, in the form of William Herrold, may come up with an alternative translation)

I haven't seen the equivalent brochure on Festool's UK website yet.

Hey Everybody,

Yes, the rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Who said a supermax is inescapable? I jest.
The Carvex, Great idea, here is why.
Of all the tools I frequently use with out dust collection, the jig saw.
Mostly the dust goes straight down and can be cleaned up after.
Time is money and folks we simply haven't been making any lately, so any time
I can quickly bring the tool to a job  completely encumbered is a plus.
Sink cutouts come to mind as does any ladder work.
Great idea.
If and when we sail out of the doldrums. this will go on the short list.

Per,

It is always great to see you appear like magic.  Totally off topic - how do Gravely's like super deep snow?
