I have the opportunity to purchase a few tools that are in great shape used. Each one kinda has a hitch. I am wondering if others whom might be familiar with the tools might help me come to a decision as to what i should be willing to pay for them.
The first is the Porter Cable Omni Jig. Its like new with all manuals. From what i can tell it retails for $650. The hitch with this tool is that it comes setup only to work in 3/4 stock. 3/8 & 1/2 " is a add on kit and another $2-300! Same goes for the dust collection setup..
The second is a Jet 6" joiner. Its is good used condition. New it retails for the better part of $1000. However it is easily found online shipped to my door for $730. The hitch with this one is it will just tide me over till i can get the Hammer A-3. I am really interested in this piece though as it will be some time before i can get my hands on the Hammer A-3. I also am not wired for 240 or 220 or whatever so this is a good option to get me in a joiner. My intuition is i will always be able to sell ot for a few hundred bucks?
The third is a Delta A-200 air filtration unit. Im also really really interested in this piece as I'm sure it will be short $$$ by comparison to the other two items. It is new in the box banded and all. The hitch is it is no longer available. I can easily find replacement filters online but for how long will that last? I also cant find any pricoint to what the unit sold for when it was avaiable.
So what do you all think. The 6" jointer is a good tide me over for the right price or just save my money? Remember i need a full electrical upgrade costing 3-5k before i can buy anything 220-240. The dovetail jig is awesome but whats the right price. And the air cleaner is new and thats awesome but discontinued and by a compamy that is no longer...
