Using a router to create reveals in drywall

I really want to start playing with reveals in my drywall designs using TrimTex reveal beads and was thinking a router might be great for creating the 1/2" gaps in the drywall that I need.
For example one of my ideas is to create a sort of negative chair rail using two or three reveals parallel to each other running around a room, this could be done by my boarders by cutting strips but they would hate me for it.
I'm thinking an OF on a rail would do the trick, maybe with a jig to hold it at the right height on the wall.
Does this sound like it might work alright?
I still have to find someone that wants a reveal design but if I have an efficient method to do them it could be another good style for me to offer to clients.

Yeah I thought about that, corners might have to be done the old fashion way with a knife. Or it could be a cool effect to just end them short of the corners by a couple inches. Another idea I have is to create a sort of negative wainscot similar to this one I did a while ago but rather than building out just the wainscot section I would put a second layer of drywall on the entire wall and just have the boxes recessed with a couple reveals as the chair rail.

This would be on new construction so the screws are visible and even then only the exterior walls have screws in the field, the interiors are glued.
