Using parallel edge Guide with Trion PS 300 Jigsaw for rip cut on laminate floor

I was trying to rip cut laminate flooring with my Trion PS 300 using the parallel edge guide today. When I install the parallel guide I found the top of the guide was slightly below the bottom of the jigsaw base. It appears to me the guide is made to slid under the base, which would be fine for thinner cuts but there is not much surface to ride along the edge of a thin piece of material.  Does someone have a technique for raising the guide so I would have more surface riding against the piece of flooring as I do my rip cut.

I also would like a recommendation on which blade to use on laminate flooring. I used a metal cutting blade however it seemed to get dull pretty fast.

Thank You

Hi Ivan:

I have a customer that uses 486553 for laminate flooring and has had good results, which were posted here in July. I think it will work well with typical laminate flooring.

I would think you could drill two holes into the guide to allow you to mount a taller face plate to the inside surface.  Or, maybe just use some double-sided tape to adhere a taller face plate.

'Sorry, Ivan, I was trying to measure my Guide Stop...

Though it is tricky for me to measure, I think the offset is about 4mm between where the saw base is and the top of the Guide Rail would be. This is an inexact measurement but I tried it a couple of ways.

I hope that helps.
