Vac hose size

Hello All,

I am looking for feedback on vacuum hose sizing to extend my system (older CT33).

Some background:

I have been learning from this forum for a few months and have added a number of Festools to my shop. (Very happy with new tools and results; And thank you for all the generous sharing from everyone!).

For the last 2 yrs I have been building our home and now am on the final details - trim, cabs, etc.

I use the TS55 and Domino, also the RTX400, a couple Rotex sanders, 1400 router, and MFK700.

My issue is that the vac hose is not long enough to work with the bench and tools I have. I am using an MFT/3, as well as my traditional work bench as a work space.

My question: Should I purchase the 36mm 5m hose or the 27mm 5m hose? I am currently using the 27mm hose that was packaged with the CT33 (3.5m) and it collects dust quite well - not sure if the added length will reduce the dust collection. Or should I go with the 36mm diameter? The 27mm hose is quite flexible.

I am concerned that the 36mm will not have enough flexibility to work with.

Any experiences?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

You will want to stick with the D27 hose for most of the tools that you currently have, The D36 will not work with the sanders  (it could be adapted but will be clumsy)  is beneficial to connect to the 1400, and can be used with the TS55.  However you are mostly interested in  an extension so ..... The best size to use for an extension is the D50. That would serve as an adequate extension for all of your tools so that the D27 could be used at a longer distance.  A longer (5m)  D27 would be fine for the sanders and Domino, you would probably see some drop off  for the TS55 and I think a noticeable drop in collection from the 1400.

This thread might interest you too , especially the  link in the first post.

Brice and Seth -

Thank you for the information.

Brice: do you know if the Bosch hose is anti-static? I am using a dust deputy and had static shock issues until I by-passed the dust deputy with a copper ground wire.

Mike

It is not anti-static.  But for $30-35 it's still a good deal.
