The new hose fits in the VacSys or any of the vacs far easier than the older hoses!

What does the new hose look like versus the old hose? Any photos?neilc said:The new FT hoses come with couplers that allow the small end from the VacSys to fit into the larger end of the new hose - makes extending hoses very easy. Richard/RMW said:[member=3515]RJNeal[/member] I believe it was [member=44099]Cheese[/member] who turned me on to the right euro coupler but I had a time locating them. I eventaully got mine from MMC:

Thank you Richard, I’m looking for regular couplers. I was thinking I need metric fittings. It looks like a 3/8” fitting might work , I’m going to give it a go.
Thanks everyone for the help.
Rick.

Also bought some hose from Joe Woodworker:

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Me thinks you've solved the riddle [member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] ...it's been a couple of years since we've gone through this stuff and today I was trying to figure what the significance of the HF on the black fitting was. High Flow... [doh] [doh]
When I ordered the extra Festo couplings they were expensive...something like $40-$50 each. But now that you've solved the riddle, there's probably a cheap alternative. I'd imagine the Husky HF couplings are less than $10 each.
I should mention that the reason I opted for the original Festo couplings, is that they were engineered specifically for vacuum applications. Depending upon the circumstances that can be a deal breaker however, having lived with the VAC SYS for the last 4-5 years, a coupling targeted for vacuum applications really isn't necessary.
Michael Kellough said:[member=44099]Cheese[/member] do those Husky fittings actually lock in the Festool hose coupling? The black Husky neck is shorter than the silver fitting.

For replacing the air filter, the replacement Oetiker clamps that Festool Service offers are real nice because they're worm gear and can be reused. The real bear is removing the original Oetiker clamps without ruining the vacuum tubing.
The worm gear replacement Oetikers are 479816.

kdzito said:Cheese, thank you for the info. I bought the ones through Festool Service and installed them last night. The pump has a weak pull and I'm guessing there is leak(s) somewhere. Do you have any troubleshooting tips? I'm also thinking of replacing all them as I only did the 4 on the filter hose tubes. Also for the barbed elbows that screw into the pipe do these need to be taped or doped?

It's a goofy system they've assembled...some fittings have tapered threads and need tape or dope, while others have straight threads and need to be used with the PTFE gaskets.
For instance, in the photo of the parts that I posted earlier, 474202 & 474203 have tapered threads while 474204 & 469756 have straight threads and need to be used with 2225.
Here's another example.

With nothing connected to the pump, can you get 150 mbar on the gauge? If so, then the leaks are external and the pump and filter are not the issue.
For leak testing the system, I'm wondering if you can isolate the vacuum pump from the rest of the system and then you could apply air pressure and check for leaks with Snoop. 150 mbar of vacuum is equivalent to 2 psi.
Festool recommends the air filter to be replaced yearly and the seals on the pump be changed every 5000-8000 hours of operation.
