I know this is getting old..but I did the tek-FLEX(neon green of course) & shrink tubing mod to my vacuum hose...it is sweet..really like how it slides without hanging up...huge improvement...would never of discovered this if it wasn't for fog..keep up the good work...oh yeah, I got the domiplate...perfect

I did this as well after seeing another member us it in a video he posted , sorry I can't remember who it was .  It works great when I'm working with sheet goods .

Perhaps it was from a CT Midi review I did a while back?    http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-reviews/review-of-festool-ct-midi-dust-extractor-(583376)

Details on the sleeving and heat shrink are noted  (source:  wirecare.com  )
Also note a detail posted later:  "I also used some 1” black Gorilla tape to secure the shrink wrap so it couldn’t migrate up or down the hose."

Take the extra time/effort/cost to get a (16 gauge!) power cord running through there with the vacuum hose.  It is awesome.
I've been using this hose setup regularly for 2.5 years now and it's fantastic.

Where did you get the huge heat shrink and the sleeve from?

Thanks,

RMW
i bought them through Parts Express. The sleeve is  1 1/4" neon green tech-flex and 2" black 2:1 shrink tubing. It works great. I ran hose & cord in sleeve ,however  it's a not fun installing. It is worth the $30 something I spent. Hope this helps you

wouldn't it be cool if dealers offered this mod as a kit?  [poke] [2cents]

Still no image. Down at the bottom of your screen click on 'additional options', 'browse', select the image you want and if it's path is shown on the Attach: line, then you can click on post and you're good to go. eg: sample image

Does anyone know if you can buy just the tool end of the plug-it cord as a repair part?

Thanks.

RMW

Yes you can, it's called "RK plug it" with number 489685.
At least it's available in Europe, don't know about USA.

You can better buy a complete new cord (#490649 or #490656).
The RK Plug-it costs €15,85 in Holland and a new cord (4m) costs only €21,05.
Or $45,20 in the USA (18 Gauge).
So make your own decision.

thx upscale...that's what I've been doing...not sure why I can't post pic...it showing up on my post history... I'm doing everything off of phone, that could be problem.

Just in case anyone wants to order some of this hose here's where I got mine .http://www.cableorganizer.com/braided-sleeving/
I used the 1 1/4" hose and took the end off to help it slip over the hose easier .  Think I paid around $23 for 15' of it shipped .  Hope this helps some of you , I've been seeing it on ebay for some crazy price .

If the 1 1/4" sleeve works on the 27mm hose, would I need the 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" sleeve for the 36mm hose?

I can't wait to try this, it's so aggravating when the hose gets caught on the edge of the work or table.

Tom

same stuff works for 36mm,I think it fits better on the 36mm, unfortunately the green don't come in the 50mm size, black or carbon and white(?)are the color choices.from partsexpress

That's good to know that I can use the same size for both the hoses.  Thanks for the help.

Tom

I got working on this today. The 27mm hose was easy but I am having problems with the 36mm. I got the sleeve over the hose and cord but in the process the cord worked its way up the hose and is about a foot short on the vac end of the hose. I have been trying to slide the cord but with not much luck.

Any thoughts other then sliding everything apart and starting over?
