Hi All,

I have a CT22 and recently noticed that when i use the 1" hose i hear a high pitched screeching sound.  As a test, i tried the 2" hose and it was fine.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?  Suction doesn't appear to be affected, it's just a  bit annoying to listen to.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Sounds like something might be stuck in the hose and acting like a reed on a clarinet.  ;D

Thanks Greg.  I just pushed a long piece of molding through the entire length of the hose and it seems clear.

In addition, i just removed the nozzle (part that inserts into the tools) and the noise is gone.  Put the nozzle back on and the noise returns.

Hi, I have the same issue with my CT33.  It's just the speed of the air through a small opening; a minerature pipe organ?  Can be solved by slowing down the motor speed control on the unit to where the whistle is just below audible.

same here!i have the ct22 and i hear the same sound.it's because of the small opening of the hose.

One of my Bosch sanders came with a long small diameter hose. It has such a small opening and is so flexible that it's length changes as the vacuum is applied and reduced so the hose makes a whistling sound that clearly changes pitch as the hose length changes.

My SV does the same thing when I have a certain bend in the hose.  The air gets slowed down because of the bend and it starts to make a whistle...more of a shriek, actually.
