Video Review RAS115 MIDI Dust Deputy ..specific application use..

Hey guys and gals,

the other day i decided to try my hand at making a youtube video.. the second one i decided to do included a few festools so i thought i would share it with you guys. 

Most of the video is actually about a specific application of the tool but it does give a good idea of how the tool works, how well the MIDI works and how the dust deputy cyclone separator works. I had an addition i am working on spray foam insulated and there were a few areas that were going to interfere with drywall installation.  these had to be shaved down some how.. in thinking of the faster easier smarter way to get this job done i thought of my RAS

I built my own box for my dust deputy and if anyone is interested i will put together a post or video about how i made it.

in the quick usage part of the video i will just say that the ras was obviously a lot faster and easier on the arms but also removed more material than scraping...  using the ras in this application is fast, it probably only took a little over an hour to do all the shaving in the room

Good video and thanks for posting it. While it's probably nothing I'd ever have occasion to do, anytime I can see a pro contractor doing their thing, I pay attention.

Great video.  I have two of the steel Dust Deputys that I mounted on the tall grease cans...same size as the one Oneida sells but taller.

Thanks Charlie!  i agree that one of the best ways to learn is to watch something being done and use the experiences of others who have gone before you..
you may never need to shave down spray foam but the RAS is an incredible little machine that often gets over looked i feel.  once you own one all sorts of uses pop up.. coping moldings, scribing to a line, paint removal, sculpting wood are some of the more common but the potential of the tool is huge  also for a tool that removes material so quickly the dust collection is amazing!

Great Video.  Did you still use a dust mask while sanding down the foam insulation?
