Just found these on YouTube, not in English, but you can pick up a few things. Looks like the ETS EC has some nice features!

Ok, let me use some of my awesome powers of translation for our non-german speakers. Hope I get most things right.

About the sander:
---------------------

- Quite a bit smaller and lighter than the current ETS 150. How much exactly though is not mentioned. Also no mention of how they compare in power.
- The new ETS has a brake that slows down the pad after it is shut off.
- It has automatic suction recognition, which is programmable on/off. It detects when the suction drops, like when the hose is disconnected, and if so, turns off the sander. It is programmable by pressing and holding the switch and then turning the speed dial. You get auditory beeps and a LED indicator as confirmation. Sounds very useful.
- The switch is a push button.
- There's an automatic power off detection. If for some reason power to the sander is cut, it won't go on by itself again until you push the on switch.
- It has an automatic vibration control with sensor, when vibration gets too much it dials down to a lower speed, reducing vibration. Not sure if I want my sander to decide this for me. Couldn't make out if this is programmable or not.
- When you remove the pad, you get access to the counter weight that's slightly adjustable, so you can calibrate vibration a bit.
- The pad brake has some metal rods in it to improve longevity.
- What it does not have is a built in fan like the current ETS so you only have dust extraction when you hook it up to a vac.
- And I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't have a Fast-Fix pad but a screw like the older ETS. Would really like to see that phased out. Probably done to keep the sander as small and light as possible.

About the hose sleeve:
--------------------------

Not so much to mention here you can't make out yourself on the video. It goes on the outside of a 27/32 mm hose and it can hold a plug-it cord. Probably the answer to the prayer of a lot of our American members. It has a cord wrap on the end that seems to be useful, if only the demonstrator himself could make it work. I see this can be very useful in a woodworking environment, but it looks like it can become very dirty very fast when you work with paint.

Thing I noticed was the young ladies watch was disproportionate for her wrist. Watch was way to large.

I was hoping the hose-sleeve would fit a 36mm hose.  As well for a 5 meter version. [scratch chin]

I doubt very much that there'll be a 5m version, simply because the thing is designed to hold the plug-it cord, and Festool don't make those in 5m...

They do make them in 7,5 m.

But I doubt too that they will make a longer hose sleeve.

Maybe if they sell like crazy they'll make one for the 36mm hose too.

Since this was developed mostly with automotive applications in mind, I suspect that's why there's only a version for the 27mm hose. Sanding dust from automotive paint and bodywork wouldn't warrant a 36mm hose. In one of the photos I have, it looks like a pretty long coil of hose but I don't know the length.

The chap in the two videos is one of the nicest guys you can imagine. His name is George and I met him a couple of years ago - he certainly knows his (Festool) stuff.

The sander looks very interesting and very easy to control. The new hose will be popular I am sure. Every now and again we get threads here on the FOG about covering the hose and so this proves that Festool take note of what is going on here.

Excellent.

I would do just about anything for one of those hose wraps. Even more so if it was available for a 36mm hose!

I hate ripping sheet goods and having the hose tear little pieces of veneer. Or impeding movement of your TS or sander because the ridges on the hose get caught on everything.

I know a boom arm but i have duct work that would not allow for the height of the boom arm on my CT. I would then have to build three boom arm stations. One for my assembly table area, one for my cut table area, and one for my MFT area. Well my assembly table area could be skipped as it has the height for a boom arm but why bother buying a CT mounted boom arm if i already went the way of building two for the other areas..

Im excited about the new 150 as i am only starting to collect Festool sanders. Actually a RO90 is in a truck somewhere close to me ready to make today a very good day.

What are rumors of brushless sanders coming out, is it true and if so please share any info you might have.

Should i wait before i purchase many more sanders or are they still fa far off? Ill be pissed if i buy thousands worth of sanders then brushless ones come out within reasonable amount of time, pissed!

I don't like the new hose wrap. It's bulky, costly and heavy and it's not even sold separately?
The zipper might still damage the edges of veneered boards.
I use a simple TechFlex nylon cover in which I also include the power cord. Some installers tape around the edges finishes it of.
Much sleeker, slimmer and only cost €2,12/meter (1" version).
They even have a kind of Festool green (Neon Green).

The online retailer i use sells that stuff but only in black. I am tempted to purchase some but was afraid it would not be much better than the hose as it looks to also be plastic?

I also did not like the unfinished ends but as you suggested figured i could make something myself that would work?

So you like this stuff then. Are you saying it keeps the hose from snags and does not tear edges?

Definitely YES it does help a lot!
It's cheap and simple.
There is nothing wrong with black covers.

I cannot understand that Festool doesn't have hoses which are smooth on the outside. The new ones are tapered, but why?
They sell all kind of accessories to overcome the problem of hooking to materials, tracks, etc.
In Europe some home vacuums have smooth hoses these days. What's wrong with these hoses, less flexible maybe?

I agree,

With Festool all being about innovation and incorporating functional features into tools that really help. You other the ones other manufactures leave out to keep cost down, i just don't get some of Festools simple oversights once you really start playing with their tools.

Granted i have not used the fabric hose cover they offer as i am in the United States but i cant imagine that that giant velcro seam does not make the hose awfully rigid and maybe make the whole idea of a snag free hose a moot point being now you have one that will not flex..

I would imagine this other product would be much more flexible. Granted a fabric hose to start with would make like on many Eruo vacs would make a hell of a lot of sense. I just don't like the unfinished ends. My concern was that the stuff is also plastic and although it does not have ridges it is still plastic dragging across my work.

Being a hobbyist rather than a pro, i make do with tubular gauze, a medical product.
If the gauze gets too dirty and torn, i just put on a new layer. I feel no difference in neither weight or rigidity. Probably nothing for a pro shop, but it works for me.

What's the OD of the 27mm hose?

I've been doing a lot of floor sanding, I'd like to get some Techflex since there's a lot of dragging the hose/plug-it cable around on the floor. I have it on my scuba equipment and it seems to hold up to wear pretty well.

TechFlex is one of those brands who sell the sleeves.
And they have a lot of different type of sleeves (heavy duty, wrappable, flexo, etc).
Other brands also do sell these products even in the USA, try Google.

Hi
The E.T.S.E.C 150/3 AND 150/5 are brushless motors.
The smooth hose seam is below the outside radius of the material covering the hose and when the zip is closed a material covering is drwwn over the zip to prevent any marking. The end of the hose that attaches to the machine is shorter than the convential hose. This keeps the sander very mobile and as small as possible. The hose and the cord running internally make a real diffrence to how manouverable the machine is and at 22mm into the machine it is very flexible.
