Virutex Clamping system

I know many foggers have used this system before the release of the Festool system in NA.  My question is....Can the Virutex be ran off of a vacuum pump instead of an air compressor?  If so, are there any modifications that need to be done to accomplish this?

I have two of the basic Virutex, (SVN 470 auxiliary unit) that I run off a surplus refrigeration pump.  This basic version did not rotate so I bought two bar stool swivels and mounted the units on those to get rotation.  These two cost me less than $500.00.  I have since bought the Sys Vac I and II and tww of each of the heads.  I do a lot of prototype work and the various heads give me great versatility.

The only differences between the two units are that the auxiliary does not swivel and does not have the Venturi vacuum generator.  I bought the hose accessory, it's vinyl tubing (8538005 Pipe D.6), sold on the Basic unit SVN250 page.  I bought push/pull 1/4" tube connectors fromhttp://www.automationdirect.com/adc...nents/Push-to-Connect_NPT_Pneumatic_Fittings_(Thermoplastic)/Male_Straight_(Hex_Body)/MS14-18N.  I then used a Milton female air fitting threaded into push to connect fitting the to connect to my pump.
