Walko Workbench DRAW sign up (ON HOLD)

5 stars delivered to Google ;)

And thanks for all your (and all the others) effort to keep this running!

Nick,

posted review on transaction.  If it shows up as four stars instead of 5 sorry - nothing that you did.  My Iphone wouldn't let me choose 5 stars.  did review again on another computer and gave five stars.  Hope 5 shows up.

Thanks,

Peter

Guys anyone who paid me through Google do me a HUGE favor and respond to the google reviews and give me some star ratings please if you feel I emailed you fast and made clear what you were getting. 5 Stars would be good!

Thanks to the people that have already!

Nick

Still waiting on the lawyer so far the response is there is no law I am breaking and unless someone files a complaint there is no agency the lawyer can think of that would want anything to do with it and wait until something happens to respond. Basically saying just get on with it and deal with the fallout if it comes. In his opinion it never will, if it does he has my back.

I am waiting until his secretary does some research on the IL laws pertaining to giveaways by individuals.

Matthew does need to write in his terms that he does not warrant or back or is any way involved with the sales, affiliations etc or warrant  any of the posters comments or deem them as true etc.
.

Unless Nick has a very personal relationship with his lawyer, who, by the way appears to be putting a little more into this than just a short phone call, I am sure there must be some charges/fees/whatever involved.  Nick is also covering sales tax obligations out of his own pocket, as monies are coming directly to him.  He is covering his tail there, which is smart. I repeat what I mentioned in an earlier post, Nick's tax and legal fees, no matter how large or how small, should be covered out of funds received.

Thanks I did not know that!

I pay the lawyer nothing. He has even sent letters to the county for free before.  Someone complains saying I could not run a home based business, he sent one letter and the matter was resolved, for free! Of course this is not the norm I mean I couldn't refer anyone to him expecting to pay nothing. Unless I retain him for something like this there is no charge so thanks Tinker but it's a freebie so far!

Anyone know where the "draw" stands at this point? It's too bad something this simple becomes so complicated.  It is interesting that there is such an international fraternity on the FOG.  Very cool!  Maybe we should run this as many US companies run their business - through a door front in the Bahamas to avoid taxes.  If I'm not mistaken, the Stanley Tool company left the US for an off-shore corporate headquarters.

My mistake - Stanley is still based in the US (Connecticut). Not sure how many tools are still made here though.

It's not complicated, Matthew asked we stop becasue of some concerns he had. I have none.

It's up to Henrik. We can return money, we can keep going if Matthew says okay or we can keep going and people can just use the link at my site to enter. I can post the link of entrants there. Taxes etc , people worry to much, I said I would take the heat if there was any which there won't be.

It's up to Henrik.

If we continue, please register me, I've "entered" at Nick's site.

PS, Oops, didn't read the fine print. Didn't realize it had closed.

I got it Greg. I have a bunch of names I did not update the list with yet. Anyone that paid is in though.

Nickao and all: the offer still stands, I was just a bit concerned that the whole thing would end up in the drain.
I have been busy and have just checked in maybe once a week to see if the issue/non-issue has been resolved. Is the draw closed for admissions and are we waiting for the verdict from Matt or where do we stand?

I am all for the draw, just as before, but I feel it is a decision that is not up to me. If Matt decides to pull the plug on the draw I am open to have the draw done with the participants outside of the forum if that can be arranged. That would be a bit sad as the whole idea was to create a little happening within the forum but if the FOG will not allow the draw I wish for the surplus to go to something else rather than the forum - I am open for suggestions. As I said before I don't want any part of the admissions myself but if the draw is off the FOG, the surplus will go to do some good somewhere else.

If it comes down to dropping the whole thing I will reimburse Nick for the cost of paying people back the admissions. But I am hoping that won't be happening.  :(

Just let me know what to do, from my side it is still all systems GO.  :)

I guess it's up to Matthew then.

No need to pay me back anything at all Henrik. Maybe it's best to wait until after this weekend we have a bunch of Easter activities and my 7 year old daughter has a wake and funeral I have to take her to. Two of her 6 year old girl scout partners died in a car accident as well as their mother, just horrible.

Good Afternoon,
Just want to make sure everyone knows my position on this.  I'm totally in favor of the intention behind this effort, and I truly appreciate Henrik and Nick putting this together.

However, it came to my attention that this could possibly put the forum in some kind of jeopardy legally.

If it were not for this, I would be happy to let the drawing go forward.

Again, I'm very much in favor of the general idea.  If anyone can assure me that we won't have a problem with this, I would like to let it go forward.

I hope everyone understands my position on this.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

If you got your info from an attorney, you must know where you stand.
If your info was not from an attorney, why not do as Nick has done >>> ask one.

Are there any attorneys in the forum who could weigh in on this?  I don't have enough credits with my regular attorney to obtain advice on the matter!
Again, I'd like nothing more than to see this kind of thing happen and succeed.
Thanks,
Matthew

Hello Group,

May I suggest an idea on how to restructure this in a manner that I can not imagine would be illegal or cost anyone in taxes.  I am not an attorney, nor a tax guy, but I deal with both in a very specialized field - and this is not that.

If we break this down to the basics:

A member of this forum wants to give a gift to the forum.
The administrator would be the receivor of the gift.
The administrator of the forum wishes to increases support fees for the forum.
As a thank you for the increased support the administrator has decided to not keep the gift.
The administrator will give this gift to a supporter who has submitted a donation in the amount of $10 between the dates of xxxxxx and xxxxx and was a member of the forum on the first xxxx date.
A member of the forum has agreed to help collect money thru his paypal account and will forward the funds to the administrator.
Whereas there are expenses that will be attributable to the transfer of the gift from the original giver to the administrator and then from the administrator to the final receiver, in the interest of keeping costs the lowest, and maximizing the retrun to the Forum, the administrator authorizers the receiver(s) of the funds to disperse the necessary funds to pay for the transfers and other other costs of receiving the gift and then forward the remaining proceeds to the forum administrator.
Whereas the forum administrator is too bogged down with the admin work he has asked another forum member to assist in selecting a name at random from the list of supporters that fit the criteria by whatever means he / she decides.

That helper gives the name of the selected forum supporter to the administrator and then the administrator decides if the candidate is worthy of the gift.

You guys can read between the lines.  This can be expounded or trashed.  Just my thoughts.

Peter

I think Matthew wants nothing to do with this as he is busy. We already asked him first thing to get involved, he declined.

If we just keep him out of it I do not see how he or the forum can be held responsible. He does not warrant that any our our posts are true let alone his opinion, just like all the forums. He just provides the space for the forum and moderates it so I fail to see how anything a poster does can reflect back on the forum itself in a legal sense(unless he runs it). If he runs it then he runs into everything else he is concerned about and maybe it could come back to him.

Still, a 500.00 drawing? There is no one going to mess with us on that. My attorney could not even figure out what agency would be in charge of a complaint the way this is set up. He is not even sure who someone could complain to, let alone know who would even have authority to do anything. I wonder who whispered this into Matthews ear to begin with becasue it sure seems like much ado about nothing to me. This would be over already and all the evidence of what has been done to date is already here on the forum. It seems to me the damage, if any, has already been done and we should just open it for anohter week and do the drawing. I have received about 7 entries during the time it was on hold anyway, I expect if it is taken off hold we will get a lot more.

To  me us running something really has nothing to do with him and I think thats how he wants it.
