Like many things in life, sometimes the most interesting are the most screwed up.  [big grin]

Found this piece of walnut in a pile at my sawyer’s shop. Like the shape and the grain. But it’s taken me almost a week to get to this point. That’s adding in extra time to wait for glue to dry.  [eek]

I really like the way it’s shaping up though.

When I first saw that image I thought of a human leg.  All it needs is a foot.  You will make something great with it!

That's pretty cool Ron... very [cool]

So, do those plugs cover up mostly good wood or mostly damaged wood?

Probably both for sure...but I'm just wondering if more effort is put into damage control or design control?

[member=44099]Cheese[/member]  mostly problems. Cracks, splits, insect damage and an open knot. But I really like the shape and the sap wood.  [big grin] Thanks.

Ron

I can’t imagine how long it must have taken you to do that. There are those who would have deemed those walnut pieces ‘unusable’ and tossed them on the fire. Congrats at saving another precious tree and creating something unique. Looking forward to seeing the project develop.

That looks wonderful.

I used to think "why would someone spend that much time doing that" (i know it's a business ;) )

But recently I've been adding some inlays to a table I've been making and find the process strangely relaxing.
OK, my idea of inlay is a plywood disk into an MDF board to help strengthen a mounting point.  My tolerances are awful, but t's an enjoyable process to see the end result.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Looks like you are embracing the round plugs after finally giving them a shot. [smile]
Great looking project, as always, Ron.
