any of you doing any projects? have just finished a project... why not take a pic or 2 and share it... it only takes a few minutes and it would nice to see all the stuff you guys are making... or do you just buy your festools and keep them all shinning and new and sitting in your garage shelf?  lol

I look at these post and each post has major views but less than 1% ever comment and most of the time its the same people... its a new year so lets try and get more people to share and participate...

what do you have to say ?

I was just thinking the same thing this morning, kreg, as I was reading some posts. There are members here who can tell you what color corrosion to look for in the brushes of a brushless motor and could probably sketch you an electrical schematic on a napkin, but they never show what they do with these darn tools. I am intrigued as well. Had really hoped that the recent contest on here would bring them out, and the ones that did show were very impressive. Would love to see more.

I'm still in the process of getting all the tools I need to set up my hobby shop in my garage.  I've gotten a lot of ideas from this forum.  From the looks of some of the projects that I've seen so far, its going to be a interesting journey for me as a beginner.

Seems like most of the folks posting pictures are in the Trades.  Personally I would like to see a Forum category for those who make a living using Festools.  I'm constantly weeding through comments since most don't apply to a business owner/operator.  Maybe thats why I post the same question on the FOG and then on the JLC forum.

Really?  Thats quite the list of items attached to your name.

I'm (slowly) working a new custom kitchen for myself.  Started in Oct and today only have two pantry cabinets and the cabinet over the refrig done, but here's a couple pics of progress to date.

Like I said, I'm slowly getting everything together.  Haven't used most of them yet.  Have a few more festool items to purchase before I get started.

Nice reveals, Fred.

I like the blonde interiors behind the cherry faces. What finish did you use on the cherry?

Hopefully I'll be able to construct something as great as that, as skills improve.

Well, Brice recommended I hit my Festools with Armor-All for that new-out-of-the-Systainer look.  I've been waiting months for it to dry.  I think I was set up...

Thanks.  We wanted a cherry kitchen but decided using maple for the interior would make things a lot easier to see inside the cabinets.  The finish is RepcoLite's Mir-A-Var Conversion Varnish sprayed with an HVLP gun and turbine.  Really tough stuff.  Two coats w/ no sealer, sanded w/ 150 before the first coat and 220 between 1st and 2nd coat.  Smooth as silk and a really hard durable surface.  First time I've used it, but really like it.

Looks nice and satin. What are you running for a hvlp rig?

Really great looking cabinets Fred. Excellent job! The finish does indeed look great.

I hope to build my own kitchen this winter. I have done a few kitchens but never frameless. I plan to do frameless cabinets in my kitchen for the experience and because of cost and time constraints. A few questions for you.

Is that Cherry ply or book matched solid lumber? If its ply, how did you do your edging? In the photos the edge looks seamless, leaves my to believe its solid wood.

Are the interiors solid maple?

Edit: I guess that would be slip match not book match.

Nice job, Fred!

Waiting for three feet of snow to melt out of my 'workshop' i.e. the backyard and the temperature to raise by about 55F/25C to a more reasonable temperature to work on anything  [sad]

Its a Turbinaire unit, don't know which model, but my Dad bought it around 20 years ago.  Confession time - I didn't do the actual spraying, my Dad's doing that for me.  I haven't done any spraying in over 30 years, and didn't want to start on a project this large.

Both the cherry and the maple are 3/4" plywood.  The door and drawer faces along w/ the front edge of the cabinets were edged by gluing cherry veneer on with titebond glue.

The maple edging on the pantry drawers is pre-glued edge banding applied with an iron.  Same for the cherry veneer on the front of the trim pieces between the cabinets and the wall and ceiling.

I've not used the pre-glued stuff and don't trust it enough to use it the actual cabinets.
