What CNC machines are people in fog using?

I don't have a CNC and am not really in the position to purchase one just yet but am interested it what the fog community is using. I am not mechanically inclined to build one myself but not completely against the idea. I like the idea of a turn key system.

I've got a Shopbot Desktop and a Routakit HD CNC routers. Love the Shopbot and I'm pretty mechanically inclined so the Routakit works very well too. If a larger Shopbot became available locally I would d finitely upgrade tho.

CNC

[member=60643]wptski[/member], I doubt you or I are much help to the OP. ::)
I figured if you could do it so could I!  [big grin]Had 15 or so of these where I was employed now retired from maintaining them.

I have a Multicam 5000 with a 8 position rotary carousel and a 9 spindle drill bank.
I have been using it for around 10 years and it has worked great. Just ordered a Felder H10 will be here in July, for a new shop I'm putting together.

To bring this back to the ream of mere mortals... Shapeoko 3 and Nomad 883 Pro, and a Handibot I am looking to sell. None of which received much use this winter.

Shapeoko 3 has the best combo of capacity/specs/cost for my needs.

which handibot do you have?

[member=2242]tallgrass[/member] - it's a heavily upgraded Kickstarter version. PM me w/email if you want photos or more info.

Thanks,

I built my own using GRBL on an Ardunio. Was easy enough to do, but now that I did it, I've found I don't really have a use for it.  Fortunately I only spent $100 or so on it.

Had my eyes on a ShopBot for a while. Just havent been able to justify the cost of owning a good CNC router yet.

Really want to get in the game with a CNC Router Parts machine....maybe 4x4 or in an ideal world, 4x8.  Just can't justify it yet (space or cost), even if the cost is less than some of these other commercial machines.

Will probably have to sell off some Festool to get it done.  [tongue]
