What Festool Did You buy Today?

As an FOG member well-known for his continuous heavy Festool investment (bags, splinter strips etc. all as the post above), I thought I'd continue my spending spree, since my existing cleanup tools are worn down to their tubular sockets  [sad]

I'm probably keeping the company in business single-handed.

I think that pic still shows the previous version of the brush. I think I posted about that before. I do have a brush in reserve now I found out last week, in a big Sys-IV with Dominos, splinter guards, the CMS sliding table and MFT stops. That means I bought it to have in reserve but forgot I did  [huh]

This was a long wait and a hard one for me. Thanks for the advices on the Domino folks.
It landed on my front door today. Spendy bit of kit..

Indeed a TS 55 FEBQ Fan Edition too, that comes with a Pica pencil and a measuring tape.
The tape wasn’t to bad. It’s a press to retract mechanism. White nylon coated tape wich was easy to read.

Not pictured: A rail clamp, Rapid “L” version was also received today.

It could appear that I’m on a roll here…
But these suddenly appeared pre-owned by a very nice craftsman in the furniture making business. He was stepping things down and have incredibly many nice tools to sell. Loads of Festool and Mafell. He might be close to have almost anything Festool and raved about how pleased he was with Mafell.. I did go and meet him for pick up, and we had a long lasting nice chat about tools. [member=44099]Cheese[/member] - he has/had a BF 1 E - Band file based on the RAS 115. He’s asking $250 for it.. I checked with e-kat - and the RAS 115 head/attachment is obsolete, so I think I’ll pass (Makita now have a band file on the 18V platform too). I’m afraid spare parts might be an issue soon.

A LS 130 EQ and a RO 150 both sitting on his shelf for over 11 yrs.. I finally can part with my Bosch Turbo, which is a good machine, but that dust port! [mad] + I had a couple of accessories for the Rotex already at hand - noisy machine though  [blink] Sounds like a metal knuckle grinder  [big grin]. Looking forward to use the LS 130, a machine I wanted, but not the price (new) Now these came with a price very right! And look at them.. He did care for all of his tools, none looked tired. Nice to see with a craftsman.

Thanks for the heads-up Festita...you have a great memory or else a huge Rolodex.  [big grin]

Ya, that BF 1 really interests me but like you, when replacement parts are no longer available it becomes a dicey situation, especially when transporting across oceans...ouch there are so many Festool products I'd like to purchase if they were offered on this side of the ocean.  [smile]  The BS sanders spring to mind immediately. The Milwaukee 4" belt I have is made by AEG and it's a sweetheart, however that Festool BS with the sanding frame really captures my imagination. I'd give up the Milwaukee for the Festool BS 105 with a sanding frame in a heart beat.

It’s the memory I’m afraid  [wink]
It was indeed tempting, but price wise on an old tool, no.
BS 75 and 105 are still available here, they are at the moment transferred to the new SYS3 XXL.
(I’m having a mind battle buying a pre-owned BS 75 with all the extras right now)

What is a "fan" edition? Never heard of that, European only thing?

May be, but nothing really new; they even had a bodysuit for toddlers in Festool blue with “Festool Fan” logo.. This is nothing else than green color on the two handles on the SYS + free tape measure and pencil. It’s easy to spot the SYS with the track saw in it, that’s a bonus too  [big grin]

BS 105 in XXL? Really? Last I checked the 105 disappeared and the 75 got into a XXL

Here's a comparison between the MIDI I and the MINI I. I really wanted another MIDI I but nothing has come up on the Recon site for the last 5-6 months and the local Woodcraft has been empty. Ya, you save $40 on the MINI and it's 12 oz lighter but for all practical purposes the MIDI is a better deal all around.

Always impeccable images Cheese - best comparison photos I’ve seen on those two  [smile]

Did the jump and bought a pre-owned BS 75 just now, from the same guy as the two other sanders. A furniture maker and fitter who is scaling down.
And this has seen very little use.. dust was included in the deal  [wink]

It’s more of a necessity, rather than a result of drinking cool-aid  [big grin]

Very nice Festita...I'm envious, sure wish they offered that thing in 120volts.  [sad]

I also like that everything fits in a single Systainer, sander, frame, fence & feet, is that a Maxi Systainer?

Thanks Cheese, I believe it’s a Maxi systainer, outside photo below. One of the top clasps are more or less toast - but I don’t think I’ll fit any systainers on top. This is too the old Set version that also includes the tilting fence - too bad I had both the fence and metal version of the feet new in box from before.. I’m also considering moving it into the new SYS3 XXL.. as they are sold now. It makes the SYS compatible with what I have..
Then again, this is a tool that normally don’t sit in a stack.

I just received a Festool 50 mm hose, 452887, that I plan to try on the Kapex. It's the non-anti static version so it's extremely flexible, a lot more so than the 36 mm anti static version I now use. The old style 36 mm version is extremely stiff. Unfortunately it came with 2 each 50 mm collars so a 36 mm adapter needed to be added.

[attachimg=1]

I happened to have an extra 36 mm hose end but the OD needed to be turned down to fit into the 50 mm collar.

[attachimg=2]

[attachimg=3]

Here's the end view of the jig I needed to fabricate to machine the 36 mm hose end. The 36 mm hose end is held in place on the wooden form with a long GRK screw and several fender washers.

[attachimg=4]

[attachimg=5]

And the 36 mm connector is mated with the 50 mm collar.

Got my first taste of FT. Picked up a CT MIDI and the BT remote for it yesterday in anticipation that the DF 500 and domino / cutter kit I ordered would be here today. Had it all out and running around noon today! I def need to get the hang of the domino and the remote won’t pair. But I’m super stoked!

There is a bit of a learning curve with the DF500, but it is a fantastic tool. You will learn to rely on it.

I bought a ETSC 125 set, edge sanding guide and a small assortment of paper at a great price from a local guy. That’s my second ETSC, so one will be dedicated for edge sanding. Now I have to get rid of the Bosch sander. [emoji12]

Well... I am almost ashamed to admit it, but...  [embarassed]

Today I found a brand new VAC SYS Set SE 1, SE 2 and VT Sort while I was looking for something else on the website of a local shop that was quitting its business. To be honest, I never saw the need for this tool in my shop and had already decided not to buy it some months ago when it was announced that Festool would stop producing this item. But the pricing on the complete set was very attractive and my will power just too weak to resist.

So, yeah, I did succumb to the temptation...  [crying] In my defence, and if I remember the original prices correctly, I paid about €400 less than what it was priced at at the beginning of this year before all the madness around the VAC SYS started.

So now I need excuses to justify buying it.  [tongue]

Just glad to have a wife that is very supportive when it comes to my tool addiction. [big grin]
