I'll second the "absolutely". These are heavy & massive, hence the M14 ... It's a good thing [member=44099]Cheese[/member] turned a round shaft and didn't make it a hex shaft - that bears the chance the chuck will run over the shaft when the paddle is stuck. These paddles have the outmost potential to kill drills and bend wrists badly. Definitely use the second handle ...

I have a visually identical mixer.  I don’t recall where I got it.  I used it several times for thin set.  It worked fine.  Burned out the electric drill, however.

I bought a Harbor Freight mixer drill with a transmission that gears it down, and that works fine.

I stopped into my local lumber yard a couple of days ago to pick up some paint sample brochures, and discovered they are now stocking Festool.
So far, I bought a set of the new rail connectors, and a fine tooth wood blade for the SYS 50.

My wallet is in big jeopardy.

That BOX-OF is some cool packaging. Maybe not the most practical, but cool.

Wish the level fit in the handle of the SYS3 T-Bag. That handle is curved, which is nice, tho.

- The OF-Box is a bit of an oddity - but yes it works very well (Although I have a snaky feeling that Festool is working on a SYS3 S 76 Mini systainer inlay to replace the carousel  [big grin])

And today… to my surprise - it does not fit the handle of the new SYS3 TB either  [sad]
The handle of the TB has more and thicker ribs inside the handle so the level don’t fit.. it seems that you can press it in with great force, but that’s really no option.. This handle is longer and therefore a tiny bit different than on the other SYS3 handles.. bummer.

My 1967 Alfa Romeo Spyder came with headlight covers.  They were made illegal in 1969 and were eliminated.  The plastic back then was not up to the standard we have today.  I polished mine using tooth paste (Colgate).  I diluted it with a little water (though I think cooking oil would have worked better) and rubbed it out by hand.  It took about 15 minutes per cover and I had to do it every year.

When I re-do the headlight covers this summer, I'll be coating them with the Meguiar's product you've mentioned.

The key issue is to start with an abrasive that's just strong enough to remove the yellow film and nothing more. I've never found that I have to start out at anything coarser than 320 grit wet and normally it's in the range of 400-500 wet instead. That makes it pretty quick work to move up the grits to Platin 4000.

The toothpaste was just an easy way to get my hands on some fine polishing paste.  We did not have all the same access to materials back then as we do now.  I could buy a 5 pound can of polishing paste at a ridiculously high cost from an auto body paint supply house.  They charged a “retail” pride which was much higher than the price that auto body companies paid.  Toothpaste has a fine polishing agent (or it did back then).  Colgate was by far the most abraisive and Crest was worthless for this application.

I’m not sure they still include abrasives in tooth paste.  Now they have “whitening agents”.  I would rather get my hands on a fine polishing paste.  Amazon carries some.  Deep scratches probably will benefit from 3000 grit or higher sanding paper.

In all likelihood the kits are probably your best bet nowadays.  We were in the dark ages back then. 

(If you wanted shiny sidewalls you used brake fluid.  It only lasted a week or so, but shiny.)

Here's my selection for the RO 90 headlight restoration kit...it contains a little bit of everything. What's not shown is some 10,000 and 13,000 grit slurries. The finer finish you apply to the plastic, the longer the surface finish lasts because it produces a smoother finish with smaller porosities. At that point, apply the Meguiars to seal the surface. Storing the car in a garage/shelter is also a huge bonus round because it protects the plastic from UV degradation.

Just catching up.  I can see how the Sys3 ToolBag has a different handle, though I don't have much first hand experience with it yet.  I've touched a sample in a shop and one Festool version but nothing in hand to study it better.  I've not heard about replacement handles yet either, but worth learning if possible.

To fill in a bit more here:
The handles slots - where the level on the regular SYS3 slots in - are in the TB placed more in from the edges of the handle - so there’s yet another design change. This means not only would you have to chisel away the ribs inside, you’re forced to elongate the hole(s) outwards as well. And still you risk with the elongated hole - that the level would slide to far in and protrude at the other end, risking it to jam when closing the handle down.

First post here at FOG. I’m a beginner woodworker with a mix of tool brands. My only Festool tool up until this has been a sander - I forget the name but it’s the one that they had at an entry level price. Today I purchased a used (but new looking) MFT/3. They rarely come up for sale here and I jumped on it. I had instead been planning to construct my own but knowing that it does everything I need out of the box makes me happy. I have some Veritas stainless dogs and some 3D printed bits and pieces. I plan to use my Bosch tracksaw with it as it works on the Festool rails. Looking forward to learning from you all.

I’m going to look for some 3D print files that will work with the side rails - clamp holder, sander holder etc. if you can recommend some I’d appreciate it.

Through an auction of a company closing down, i bid on a loooooot of stuff and only was successful on one item.

I got the full LR32 system box including shipping for $550 - this allowed me to then purchase the 1400 LR32 rail and the 8mm collett to use it all, for what the LR32 box should have cost at full price - so that was a nice little win.

I can 'finally' build a box to install the sys-az tray i have waiting for a home.

My first RO (90) arrived yesterday. I've got a couple of stair refinishings coming up and wanted something other than my DTS. Today I went out and bought the attendant Systainer stocked with paper for it (#577127). So far I'd shied away from getting these Systainer storage bundles, but I caved coz it was the only RO 90 paper at the board store.

I can relate to that as I just completed phase one of my own Systainer storage cabinets after years of putting it off. I didn't use the Sys-AZ, but did use the Tanos plans for the cabinets with my own slides and CNC cut drawer/shelves. I have a few more to add, but it does help with the organization.

Pulled the trigger recently on the purchase from Beaver industrial supply getting the BHC 18 and the Festool limited edition pliers set. i also got myself the screwdrivers set  from from Hartville and the limited edition ratchet set from toolsforworkingwood.com.  Very happy to get these limited edition hand tools.

After spending an average of 4 hours per week for 5 years looking at Festool stuff, I finally pulled the plug and bought a TS60 w/ 1400 track lastnight after my trusty Makita sp6000 fell again and got damaged .

I have been very weary of getting into Festool as I've had great results with Makita. But I've found it's very sloppy on the track, now compared to this beautiful Festool, what a difference. I do custom carpentry/cabinetry for a living , and after using alot of festool... I think I'm going to stop scrutinizing the price and trust that the Festool brand is worth it. I have had a Midi I for 5 years, and it has always been my favorite tool. Really looking forward to using more of these tools, I finally got the opportunity to use the ets 150, domino, 1400 router and the rotex 90 and from what I found is that it's not even close when comparing festools quality to other brands.

The only thing I'm debating is the centrotec system, I'm really not looking forward to having to buy special bits that don't seem to be too available. Anyways the TS60 hasn't been plugged in yet but I'm sure it will work great finishing up this job I'm doing working with white oak and walnut veneered sheets. Ordered another finish blade and splinter guards last night,anyone used the dust cover for it?

Woohoo, the Kool aid is now in the system,no need to eat food now, can't afford it after that purchase!
