What Festool Did You buy Today?

Love me some new old stock. These are unfortunately very hard to find these days, IMO way better than the new style. Makita still makes them though…View attachment 381433
Great find.

I've been looking for these for a little while now as well, no luck so far. I prefer the old design as well because the bottoms are smooth. The new caddies are good, I like the folding handle but with all the contours on the bottom it's a pain to clean and the lip around the edge (the bit that holds screwdrivers etc) gets in the way when you're tipping it out to empty it; all the off cuts and dust etc get caught on the inside of that lip. If that makes sense. The only negative for the old style caddies is the handle doesn't fold. Still a great product though.

Enjoy them.

I'd be interested in hearing about your thoughts on the usefulness of the light on. the ETSC 2.
Not a lot of hours on it yet, but my initial impression is favorable. The light did seem more useful experimenting on super rough stock where it would throw shadows off the peaks. Once I switched over to 150 grit I did find myself turning the light off after awhile. But that was in my shop with good overhead lighting. I'm looking forward to using it onsite with less ideal lighting.

Just disassembled my crosscut sled, stored th hardware and pitched the plywood. I set up my TSC 55 last weekend and have done a few things getting used to it. Bought Festool guide rails, TSO parallel guides and rail square, and I Realized that I’ll never again need the bulky sled. 🙂

I just picked up an 8ah battery set with the sca16 charger.

I didnt realise how heavy the 8s were.
But i should now get more than what feels like 5-10 minutes out of my cordless midi :)
The 8's are great, I get a surprisingly good runtime out of them on my SYS 50. Curious to see how you go with the midi!

Picked up the Offset Chuck today after lusting after it since I bought the TPC/18, but just couldn't quite get past the $183 price tag.

I bought it as I had some hassle getting to some partially obscured rack gear in a comms room in a hotel this week.

I wish I had bought it sooner, it's marvellous quality and drives really tight.

It's way better than I expected and could have hoped for really, I can see this getting a lot of use.

The various attachments for the drills are in my mind the things that might not get used all the time, but they rise to the occasion, and need to be around when something critical comes along that will cause angst if they weren't there.

The newer versions of those chucks (90º, offset) are so much nicer than the first versions. First versions were still hugely useful, but attaching them when you wanted the 90º or offset in a specific position was awkward (like it is on the original CXS). These are so nice to attach then spin the top where you want it.

I never cease to be amazed at how well Festool gear works. Being able to rotate the head without any slop or loss of torque is just great.

Picked up the KSC 60 EB Basic today and I couldn't be happier with it, it's absolutely fantastic and all moving parts are amazingly smooth.

Curiously I expected to get the model with the round push button on the trigger and the pivot locking button as per the 2nd pic, but to my surprise and delight I got the model in the first pic without a pivot lock and the elongated button built into the trigger!

The funny thing is, if you go to Festool Oz site, they have photos of both models inter-mixed for the current available unit!

I'm assuming the one with the little round button on the trigger is the later model?

Regardless, this little beast is going to be incredibly useful, and to make the deal even better on top of the $200 discount voucher, the seller I bought it from gives an extra 2 years warranty on top of the standard 3 years!

Just checked the plate and it has a manufacture date of July 2025, so i'm guessing it maybe is the latest model?

MB40, should arrive today.
I bought the MB40 at the end of 2025 to bore some holes for a project - and considering I already have the Milescraft (which has served me well), the reasoning was admittedly a bit flimsy. Overall, it works very well and can be fitted with a 1/2" chuck (Milescraft is 3/8"), has very good dust collection, but like Paul, I do wish it could be angled. That would have made it the ultimate drill guide.
