What Festool Did You buy Today?

A second VAC SYS SE1. I had the pump and SE1 already, but lately found myself thinking it would be handy to have the SE2 too. Currently I am building larger objects than I used to or was expecting I would, which makes having a second clamp quite useful. But I certainly am not prepared to pay the absurd prices you see for VAC SYS stuff these days. So, I created a watchlist on a local equivalent to eBay. Lo and behold: an SE1 popped up after a few weeks for a price that I consider reasonable. The foot pedal, hoses, round cup and systainer came with it as well. There was even an extra cup (the narrow one, which I already had one of). Tomorrow I am going to play around with it. See if I need anything to connect both SE1 units to the pump, or if I need to buy some Euro/Orion couplings to get it to work. For now, I am one happy camper.

I'm absolutely stoked, the reciprocating saw I ordered finally arrived, and it only took a bit under 2 weeks to arrive from the Festool plant that's a 20 min drive from the store!

So weird I can order stuff from China and have it delivered in less than a week, but local letters or parcels to a neighboring suburb can take a fortnight!

But anyway, I've got a really old but dangerous tree to hack at with the saw over the weekend! I'll see how many blades I can bend and break!

Update:

Used the saw to chop down some branches on a very old nectarine tree with bad rot at the base, and it was superb! Handled up to 6" diameter wet branches just great.

I initially tried a standard 230mm wood blade, which bogged down pretty quick, I then switched to a TCT 230mm blade from Temu that was around $6AUD, and it chewed through it easily!

Couldn't be happier with the saw!

Maybe I didn’t actually buy it today (but my brother printed the brackets), but I did get the 100th Anniversary Rail and have enshrined it on the shelf where it is doing a great job reducing the lighting glare.

Mock me, if you must. It is a bit corny. However, this rail is intended to work and not just be a Garage Queen.

I’ve had the TopRock for about a year and I use it pretty much whenever I’m in the woodshop. And I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of pairing two together for stereo imaging. One day, I thought, I’ll find the right deal.

Now I get to hear Ben Strano and Mike Pekovich in stereo…

Just ordered the SYS AIR…from Recon…at 20% off.

I don’t know how long it had been up, but as soon as I ordered, it disappeared, so I guess I bought the last (or only) one.

The handful of times I have purchased from Recon, I have spent the time between order and delivery nervous about the condition of what will arrive.

This time, I’m hoping the filters aren’t filthy, because if they are, buying a new filter will mean it cost more than a new unit.

That's funny...I saw that up about an hour ago, looked at it, but decided not to pull the pin. :)

Congrats, I find them invaluable. I would suggest buying additional cups in the same sizes so you have pairs of each, while you still can. I find it helpful when I'm working on multiple same size pieces. For example, when I'm using my domino for cabinet panels, I find the 225mm round cup is necessary for a secure hold. I run two clamps with the round cups next to each other and do 2 at the same time. It saves me time for sure.

How much was it on Recon?

@MMCO : I have 2 of the large round cup and the small narrow one. If I ever find the long narrow one, I will surely buy it.

Yesterday I finally had time to make some hoses and fit a splitter. Now I can use both clamps at the same time and even have the luxury to have a foot pedal close to each clamp. I really love this setup. The only thing I'd like to improve is the female coupling that connects to the pump. When using the splitter I now have a plain brass DN 7.2 Euro coupling connected to the pump. That works OK, but the ring with which you lock/unlock it is a bit hard to grab. I will probably order a Prevost version to make that a bit more comfortable.

In preparation for some new shop cabinetry, I purchase two packages of Sys3 Sytainer rails. Not festool related but systainer related I also purchased an OD green systainer and the abrasive insert along with a few pieces of foam from the systainer store

Placed the order weeks ago, but just received my MB-40 today. I had picked up a Woodpecker look alike from Ali Baba and though it is pretty, its precision is severely lacking. Was eyeballing the actual Woodpecker offering when I came across the threads talking about the MB-40. No-brainer seeing's I have three separate Festool drills that are compatible with it.

I have the Woodpeckers Auto-Line and really enjoy using it because of its precision, I recommend it highly. I also have the UJK item but dislike that thing intently...garbage. However, when using the Auto-Line, it usually needs to be attached to and detached from the drill multiple times so I struggle with that dance every time and for that reason alone, I'm thinking about picking up the MB 40. I certainly don't need 3 machines that perform the same task but the ease of use with the MB 40 certainly tempts me big time. :)
