What Festool Did You buy Today?

@onocoffee What a sensational score!

Wow, our OP shops are nothing like yours by the look, here they're mainly filled with really old clothes, books not worth getting for free, mismatched plates and cutlery, and furniture at obscene prices!

I've donated a lot of construction material and tools to the local ReStore...I've also purchased several items from the store. My best purchase was a Simpson full view exterior fir door with LowE & argon thermopane glass. It retails now for about $1800 and I paid $35 for it. Granted, I had to change the handing of the door and completely refinish it but other than that, it's worked well outside for the last 8 years. You just have to stop in every now and then and help your wallet while also helping your community. :)

@Cheese Because of the Electrical Tag & Testing laws here almost all OP shops won't even take anything with a cord of any type. And if one of them had an item that retailed new for $1800, they'd be selling it at $500 minimum no matter the condition.

This was a bit of a surprise.

Woodcraft of Baltimore celebrated their 2nd Anniversary on Saturday and had a giveaway of the new EcoSystainer - one that I’ve been interested in getting all year and kept asking the reps about their release. And I won! Came with the Festool Graph Pad. Nice!

Awesome score! Congrats! It's like manna from heaven when you win something. ;-)

My local ReStore (the ones I got the SYS-AZ is about 40 minutes away) is like what you both described: typically overpriced. I see 40 year old tools offered for $50 - huh? My local store has two old radial arm saws - a Ryobi that's just the arm and saw, and a Craftsman with the base. Both are priced at $100. I keep thinking that the way to do it is to price the items so you don't think about it. Five bucks, two bucks, whatever is low enough that the person just impulse buys it - especially older tools.

Most of the time, I walk away empty handed. Sometimes, they have decent deals - like a couple weeks ago they had the M12 screwdriver for $45 with battery and bag. Not bad. But once in a while, they have something worth buying, like today. It is very few and far between though and I think dependent on the local area. I would just like to know the story behind why someone had brand new SYS-AZ drawers and a pretty much unused M337 to give away.
If you still see that Ryobi Radial Arm saw at the ReStore, let them know it has been recalled for safety reasons.

Then have them sell/give it to you.

Call Ryobi to send in the motor and collect a nice $50 check for your trouble.

I had to send in my RAS. The one time I sent in the registration card, it actually paid off.

Thanks. If they still have it the next time I'm there, I'll give it a go.

@GoingMyWay I bought the RSC recently too and absolutely love it! I did also buy some of the TCT blades off Temu, around $30 for a set of 200/350/450mm that worked a treat cutting down branches up to 200mm diameter!

I also found it noticeably heavier, it's a bit of a chore cutting thick stuff above your head, but it's smoother and far less vibration'ish than my other cheapo one so I guess it all balances out! Battery life's not too bad too.

Blades make a massive difference though, started with the standard general purpose blade but that was useless on live branches.

Ha! @GoingMyWay must have ordered right after I ordered the KHC and TPC that were just before it. Got mine today as well. Sadly, one battery pack is DOA so I'll call tomorrow to see what to do. The other battery pack was good, but on v7 firmware; if you have batteries, don't forget to upgrade them...

Found a seller of this RS2E while here in New England. The seller says he bought it from another guy who really hadn't used it. The seller hadn't used it - and it looks like it hasn't been used much. There's a little bit of dust in the port but otherwise, it's super clean - and the pad hasn't yellowed too hard and feels springy. I'm used to the size of the ETS/DTS/RTS sanders so the size of this surprised me. It's pretty massive. Has a 05/10 build date and it sounds like it's running well. $200 in a T-Loc Systainer.

Also saw listing for an LS130 out here but that seller is AWOL. Too bad, but did manage to grab this SYS3 M187 with Energy Set insert for $40.

@onocoffee If you haven't already dude, throw down the money and run!!
Oh, I got it. There's even another one farther down the road that's available. It's in a Classic Systainer and in the pic the pad is yellow-er, so it's a little older than this one. Today's seller also told me about some retail discounter in Portland, Maine where he saw "piles" of Festool abrasives on sale for cheap - and thinks there's RS2 sized paper. I'll be that way on Tuesday. Will report back.

While on the road, when I have a little extra time, I’ve come to visiting Festool dealers to see what’s up. When they’re legacy dealers, they will sometimes have some unique finds.

Today, I swung by Cape Cod Lumber and found some foam inserts for T-Loc Systainers: cool and I can use them for that T-Loc Senco PC1010 I picked up a couple days ago. They also had the Centrotec extension discounted.

There was a Kapex manual sitting on the box so I didn’t really notice it at first. Then I took a closer look “WA-HL”… Is that?? Nah, couldn’t be. Looked it up to make sure and was like: “Daaaaayum, ten bucks?!?!??” I have been wanting to get this fence for the HL850 and figured I’d probably never find one.

So, I think it’s good practice to stop by legacy dealers because you never know…

Cape Cod Lumber also has some 90mm Brilliant 2 deltas and circles for the RO90 on discount - about $24 for 50 and $38 for 100, IIRC.

I don't even know where to begin with this one.

A few days ago, I got a used RS2E. The seller has a cabin in Maine and told me about a store in Scarborough that has a ton of Festool stuff on discount and he said that they had the 118x225 papers to fit the RS2E. I was heading to Lie-Nielsen anyway, so decided to check it out. I was rocked to my core.

I've been to a lot of Festool shops and found some deals but this place was Out Of Control. Marden's is one of those stores that gets excess inventory, overruns or just stuff retailers need to get rid of - and the amount of tools here is shocking. Rolair compressors, Metabo hand tools (even an HPT track saw), Stabila, DeWalt, Makita track saw, Skil Worm Drive saw - all kinds of great looking stuff for cheap.

And then there's the Festool. The UG-CSC-SYS for the CSC SYS 50: $210. UG-KAPEX KS 120: $345. FS-PA-VL Extensions: $93. 10mm Bit for DF700: $45. CT26 Longlife Bag: $155. KS120 Crown Stops: $63. Stacks of 118x225 Rubin, Rubin 2, Brilliant 50ct for $20. Granat 100 packs: $46. Dominos in both beech and sipo - all at 40% off MSRP. D50x4M hoses for 66% Off. Utterly insane.

I ended up getting a range of Rubin, Rubin 2 and Granat for the RS2E in P50, P80, P100, P150, P240, as well as Clamping Elements for $70, and some parts for the RO150. And I think I'm going back tomorrow for some hoses. I did find a KS120 manual so I was hoping there might be a KS120 floating around for 40% off, but I only found the Kapex Clamp.

Scarborough is just south of Maine and it doesn't look like many people know they've got a ton of Festool (like an OF2200 Accessory kit or TS55EQ or Clamping Set - all for 40% Off. So, if you're in the area, they tell me they are expecting more, it's going to be worth the trip.

Think you should have kept this a secret - at least till you went broke. :ROFLMAO:
