What Festool Did You buy Today?

Cuts like a charm. Ordered a set of Festool blades and inserts to complete the kit.

Will surely be purchasing more in the future.
If you like the Carvex, definitely consider getting the full accessory kit for it. It takes a great saw and makes it even better, adding a variety of new bases that improve cutting on various materials, as well as the angle base, rail-guided base and the circle cutter accessory, all of which help you make high-precision cuts well beyond what you can freehand.

Curious how recon purchases ship? I too bought a carvex but have heard nothing since. Do you receive a shipment notification or do the tools simply show up at your door?

I purchased on FestoolRecon on 5/14 and order was confirmed shortly after same day.
I received an email notice of shipment for my order on 5/19 with tracking info.
Shipment was delivered on 5/20.

Overall a very smooth process except the waiting for shipment as I didn't know what was going on.

Which set of blades did you order? I bought a Carvex on recon two months ago, and so far I've picked up the Festool HS 75/3 BI (plastic) blades and Bosch T118G (metal) blades. I need to bite the bullet and get a well rounded set of wood blades soon.

I went to the big box store and purchased the 20 pc set of Diablo blades just to get some cutting in. I ordered Festool 204275 on Amazon and it should be here next week. These 5 blades are all for wood and are relatively short, so I'll need to add to the list eventually but most of my cutting for now will be in plywood and 2x materials.

I've been looking at the carvex accessory set but think I will only have use for the circle cutting jig. It looks great overall but for me most likely not worth the added expense (for now). The rail guide base and angled base are interesting though.

I use Bosch blades mostly, have Festool also, most used Festool is the long iinsulation blade.  Bosch's plastics blade is also outstanding as I do quite a bit of plastic fabrication.  Anymore I use Bosch blades on my Fein Supercut.

I purchased the Carvex PS 420 EBQ earlier this week.    I found a place that had both handle models in stock (Tooland in San Carlos, CA) as I wanted to see which version I liked better.  I found that the barrel handle version was a better fit for my hand.

I was thinking that cordless version, but that would have been to order it somewhere, more expensive, and a pound heavier.  I needed it (ok wanted it) for a project so didn't want to wait.

I am happy with it, works well.  I ordered some extra blades and splinter guards.

Is there a guide to the different blades available?    Seems like a lot of choices for wood cutting blades.

Jigsaw blades? Bosch has a longer one.

Good for you...that’s a nice machine. Better than nice, it’s a great piece of equipment.

We’ll be watching for photos of your projects.  [big grin]

Three out of four of my purchases from Recon in the past couple of weeks have pretty clearly not been given even a cursory inspection before turning around and reselling them. (Though one of those worked out in my favor since it included a bunch of stuff I didn't pay for.) This concerns me: while this is a small sample size, it's still suggestive that this isn't just a matter of "once in a while something slips through the cracks".
Just to close the loop on this: I received a package in the mail from Festool today containing a brand new HKC 55 blade, dust port, 5.2Ah Bluetooth battery (a surprising but welcome replacement for the older non-Bluetooth battery missing from the kit I bought) and TXS/CXS battery. I still think there's a QC issue with the Recon tool inspections, but I can't complain about the Festool service, which is just as good as always.

Show me a jigsaw which can cut a perfect, 100%-square-to-the-surface circle around a £2 coin in 50mm/2" solid oak countertop, and you'll have my attention.

My Mafell P1CC was demonstrated doing exactly the above - and that's the reason why I bought it. Anything green and black doesn't come close. Nowhere even remotely close. You guys should take off your blindfolds, stop following the one-brand herd mentality, and get your heads around the fact that there's other great gear out there which doesn't come in a grey-and-green case.

Just sayin'......

What gave you the impression that anybody here was trying to get your attention?
What if you have absolutely zero need to do the sort of cut you’ve described above?
Just sayin’....

I considered getting the Mafell P1CC, but it was $180 more expensive than the Festool Carvex, and I would need to order it online.  For the Carvex I could go to my local dealer and see which model I preferred.    Plus I don't have any £2 coins :-)

[member=66813]rmhinden[/member] enjoy the Carvex!  Around here it seems some like it and some don’t.  Like you I got the barrel grip and I am in the like it camp.  I have had it several years.  For me it works great and no issues at all.

Hey Bob the P1 cc is indeed a sweet saw but the Carvex is still pretty competent. The biggest thing with the Carvex is to not let the saw blade start to deflect. Once it starts to deflect it will never return to a vertical position. So for contour cutting, just go slow and let the Carvex cut its own kerf, don't force the saw.

The LED's on the Carvex are really sweet...wish the P1 cc had that option.

It's too bad the Mafell demonstration didn't include a 29mm or 30mm Forstner bit in a drill for your £2 hole.  You could have saved a lot of money, and possibly time.

Just sayin'...

Oh dear. I seem to have melted a few snowflakes here.

The point I was making is that the P1CC is the only jigsaw on the market whose blade clamping mechanism allows it to make curved cuts which are totally square to the surface - every time, all of the time - thus eliminating the single most frustrating and inaccurate aspect of using a jigsaw. Take a look at your curved cuts made with a Carvex - the chances are that they'll have a distinct lean angle on them. For the type of work I do - that's not even slightly acceptable.

It's also the only jigsaw I've ever found whose motor is powerful enough to cut scrolled ends on arbours and corbels in timber which is 5" thick. Using the 152mm long Bosch blades, it pretty much doubles for a bandsaw in this application.

My Trion PS 300 jigsaw arrived from Recon today.  Build tag July 2020 (someone thought it would be much older than that, I think).

Only came with one blade, but unlike previous Recon items that came short of an included item, I think I'll just grab a Bosch sampler pack from one of the big boxes and call it a wash.

Speaking of "missing" items, my trim stop for my DF500 showed up from Recon this week, too.

Also picked up a 2008-vintage OF 1400 last weekend with a bunch of accessories.  That was back when they came in a Classic Systainer and I think some of the accessories were included back then, too.  I found a T-Loc Sys-4 on the Bay this past week that I hope to be able to move it into with minimal hassle.

Today the MFK700 that I got from the classifieds came. I waited about 3 hours later than the usual time for our UPS driver, expecting to have to sign for this package. Being the Friday before a holiday, we were having a cook-out at work, which usually means leaving early. Normally, he would have been there between 11 and 12, today......2:30.

It was worth it though. This is the most un-used "used" tool, I have ever bought. Plus, it gave me some time to work on the doors of the kitchen job that I am doing for my daughter. Pics of that to follow later in the members project area.

Two of them  [scared]?
I already had the one on the right. It is the one with the modified zero degree base. I keep it set-up with that 3/4" diameter, 1" cut length bit in it for wood edging trimming. Getting that set perfectly takes some time, so I just don't mess with it very much. The machine is very precise and the base plates are very repeatable. So I can swap between the zero base with one bit and the 1.5 degree with another bit and expect it to cut perfectly after doing that, but I don't really want to push my luck beyond that.
I just thought it would be nice to have another one to use with a vertical base too. One came up on the forum classifieds at a reasonable price, close to me. So my router obsession continues. Now I need to rearrange some stuff to give it a space.

Hi, I'm Dave and I have a Festool problem....

My local Woodcrafters had a Domino 500 in stock (only 2 left) so I'm a new Domino owner.
I've been rationalizing my Festool habit as "COVID therapy", don't know what I'll do when the state opens back up and I lose that excuse.
