What Festool Did You buy Today?

Well I was thinking about adding a Rotex 125 to my arsenal to use in my sculpted Maloof inspired dining set I am building. The 6 inch Rotex is too big for many areas and the RO90 is too small, so I wanted the 125mm size to follow my RAS. After trying it out and the new ETS EC125, I was blown away by the power and feel of the new ETS and so I came home with one to try. I figured I could take advantage of the 30 days and if it does not work, I can swap it for the Rotex 125 (which I also liked). I think that I am going to be happy with the ETS and the brake, weight, ergonomics and power were amazing. Festool seems to have gotten things right with this sander.

Eventually bit the bullet and picked up a MFT3 basic today and a pair of clamping elements to go with it also got 2x sys4 tl sorts and the guide rail angle attachment

Got an OF1400 to round out the router family!

I just ordered a  sys combi II for my 1010 so I can put all my accessories in the drawer,  I already had done this same thing for to store my MFK 700 and bases.  I also ordered a sortainer sys 4 to put my electrical parts into (automatic door and mag lock parts and testing equiment).  Also ordered extra pads for my RO 90 and extra bags my Cts-Sys.

Went to the local woodcraft today for a free dust collection "class", found out the only guy who has ever been super helpful passed away a month ago. Total bummer! So I bought my first Festool sander, ETS 125 and all the Brilliant 2 paper they had. 180, 220 and 400.

I was amazed that nobody in that place knew anything about the paper, sanders or much of anything related to Festool. I wanted to check out the Rotex 150 but nobody seemed to know anything about it and it was zipped tied down so I just bought the ETS for now.

I imagine if I were doing a plunge cut in wood it would do ok. It has gobs of power though. The trigger switch is a little awkward at times but comfortable to grip.

I had an 2000W Hitachi that had the heart of a prize fighter. Unfortunately rust kinda killed him. That thing was scary outside of a router table [eek]

Though they may lack refinement, some of the big old routers can produce a great result.

My new ETS 125 and CT-SYS, it seems like the suction is too powerful for the sander. I mean I turn them on and the suction won't even let the sander move. Cranked it up to 6 and it moved a little better. I used the CT-SYS on my old POS Dewalt sander and the sander performed normally.

Thanks Kev. I also think it was a clamping issue as well. The piece I was sanding wasn't really clamped down. Just clamped down a chunk of cedar to the MFT and it worked well. Still jumpy if I tried to control the path of the sander but I'm sure that's part of the learning curve.

[member=18453]griffs[/member] can you comment on the DWC? I've been told unofficially that it's not available on the local market here in Oz due to a minor change to a spring rate in the cartridge for better performance.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] makes a good point [member=25351]rst[/member] - although the SYS Combi II was correct for your MFK 700, hopefully you got the SYS Combi III for your OF 1010.
