What Festool Did You buy Today?

Neat, can the L stack on top of the regular SYS 3 as well as underneath? The marketing images always only show it at the bottom of a stack obviously for aesthetic purposes.

I’m not short on space so organising hand tools with pick n pluck foam, if it means using two systainers instead of one, isn’t an issue if it saves me having a box of loose tools to rummage through. All my mtb tools are stored this way in a peli case and I find by having things fit a precise location I don’t lose as much or ‘explode’ tools all over the place.

The The Sys3L can attach to the top or bottom of a T-Loc or Sys3M.  It can't attach to a Classic but it does attach to the new Sys3 Cart.

Yup either way works...what's really nice is I just latched it to the SYS-Toolbox and the 2 items carry really well together.

"The DTCS is the best sander I've ever used. Chose it over the ETS since it does, to my DIY eye, just as good a job at area sanding but has the added benefit of being able to detail, edge and corner sand thanks to the Delta shape. I've found the tips to be quite fragile but am learning to treat it a little more gently when doing corners."
There is Dutch wood course slash webshop that makes and sells aftermarket pads for the delta-sander that are made out of baltic birch and therefore much sturdier. Made by Beqwaam, but also sold elsewhere.
Google "Schuurzool VELCRO voor oa DTS400 Festool"

[member=5467]Bert Vanderveen[/member] ; they say an original pad is 10%+ of new machine price. But that simply isn't true. So what else on that page isn't true?

In the United States, a replacement pad is $32 USD.  The DTS 400 MSRP for 2022 is $289. $32/$289 = 11.07%

What isn't true about the statement that the pad is 10%+ of the new machine price?

SYS3 M 137 FS/2-Set (Part no’ 577157) and FS-WA-VL (Part no’ 577041)

After finally in stock, I ordered these, just arrived Thursday. Initial impression is that this is really a “must have kit” for the TS, HKC and router. The extension is optional, but I thought this might come in as a useful extra. The extension is 800mm long in total, and heavy! Apart from the t-track it’s solid aluminium. Will do very well as a straight edge too. T-Tracks has the same dimensions as those on the rails. So any rail clamp, connector etc. will fit. Comes with two no’ 2 new Festool connectors, see photo where “stored” in the tracks.

iPhone anti auto rotate image in progress..: (Hopefully straight now!)

In NL the pad is like €22, the DTS 400 sells for €288 in a cardboard box. That is 7.7%
In Germany the % is even lower as the machines are about the same price but accessories are a lot cheaper.

On the MSRP it's 9.9%

The pricing on the DTS is interesting. So we can buy it in the US cheaper than in Germany, its home country, and we get a systainer instead of a cardboard box.  Festool pricing model must be very "interesting".

A lot of that difference is b/c of marketing. Each language needs a specific catalogue, each country its own distribution arm, etc.
Also: the bigger the market and competition, the lower the margins.

€288 is including 21% VAT. Free shipping, arrives next day. Means €238 excluding VAT = $270

Another contributor to the pricing discrepancy, in NL there is 21% VAT included in the price and 19% in Germany. (I haven't worked with VAT in a couple of years so my memory may be failing on the rates) Depending on where you buy it in the US 0-10% sales tax is added to the price you see advertised. You would think the prices would be proportionally similar country to country though.

Since the start of the pandemic, I did not take any vacation. This Christmas, I decided to take 3 weeks of vacations to relax and make some projects inside the shop. I also decided to go cordless with the track saw so I checked to replace my TS55 for the new TSC 55 K. Since there was only 1 store in Canada that didn't have the saw listed as backorder, I sold my old one and paid the difference for the new one. I received a call few days later to tell me that the saw was indeed backorder there too so I'll have to wait at the end of January. Normally, I would cancel the order but my other saw was already sold so I'm screwed anyway. So yes I have a new Festool coming but I'll receive it after my vacations. Well...

The OSC 18 that I purchased off festoolrecon.com arrived today.  It looks pretty much brand new and unused to me.

I had been eyeing this tool for a while, but it usually didn't stick around very long on festoolrecon.  I initially wasn't planning on buying it when it popped up last Friday, but it stuck around long enough for me to complete my transaction.  I really expected the item to sell before I had completed my purchase since I was dragging my feet.

Nice, I have a whole truck full of festool I use. I currently have one of these in stock, as a dealer, and was going back and forth on buying one for myself. How do you like it so far?

Prompted by the ongoing discussion (at this time anyway!) about the Vac Sys being discontinued, I picked up the last one in stock here in Finland this morning.  Wasn't previously in the market for one, but I see the value of its utility and wouldn't want to try to track one down in future.  Now I know it's there to be used I'm already thinking about all sorts of helpful ways I can introduce it into a workflow.

Not exactly a Festool, but the [member=63862]ToolCurve[/member] adaptor for the hose on the TS55 showed up today. After I figured out how to install it, that thing is fantastic. Well worth the money, just to eliminate the hassle of the hose flop. The hose pushes in very easily, a quick quarter turn and you're good to go.
I did put in a preorder for one of the new style OF1010.

I'm still considering the MFT clamp set? I just really don't like the blue systainers to begin with, but the main hold back is the bar type stops in the kit. I already have a set of those from my other MFT set and I never use them. It is effectively the same set, just swapping in the new "above the table" clamps and taking the clamping elements away. I'm just thinking that those new ones aren't going to be available separately? $300 for a systainer I don't like and duplicating things I don't use, just to get the new ones? seems a bit rich?
