What Festool Did You buy Today?

Maybe she bought a Bernina Sawing machine.

Nothing that practical.  More like cashmere wraps and sweaters to the tune of about $3000.  Oh and throw in some sort of necklace for about a grand. However, she doesn't say a peep about me indulging my Festool habit from time to time. She works like a fiend as the EVP of HR of a multinational corporation so she deserves anything she wants to get, IMO.

I always heard it as "It's easier to get forgiveness than permission."

That's an old marketing/sales statement...and that's certainly apropos so much of the time.

The original statement was: It's better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

That lexicon would then normally be proudly bandied about after the salesman/marketing manager violated all of the internal corporate guidances and sold a multimillion $ piece of a one-of-a-kind tool for less than cost and promised that it would be delivered within an impossible time frame.

Got my new TS55 FEBQ, my first Festool track saw.

I used it briefly today for some test pieces and am totally blown away with the quality of it - quite astonishing (but then you all know that!). I think it will be a big upgrade on my 10 year old Dewalt saw, which is basically a circular saw that goes on a fairly simple track and chucks dust everywhere.

I bought the 2022 (UK) "fan edition" as it was cheaper than the regular edition. It seems to be the same product as the regular edition, but came in a special systainer with green handles, and also had a Festool branded Pica pencil and tape measure thrown in.

I had been agonizing over whether to get this or the new TS60, but as I'm mainly going to use it for small projects and cutting plywood I decided that the extra £130 wasn't really worth it. Hopefully I won't regret this!

I offloaded some old Dewalt routers on Ebay and treated myself to an OF1400.  Wanted something in between the MFK700 for edge work and the router table for throwing big bits.  The OF1400 seems like a good all-rounder for 1/4 and 1/2 inch and 8mm bits.

Walked into the local dealer with a plan to get a CXS. Out of stock!
Settled on a Kapex instead.
Both are useful, but hardly interchangeable.

Anyone know where that quote comes from?

I have one battery platform too many, and seeing as Fein are pulling out of Australia, I have sold my Fein gear and being replacing with Festool. Latest addition is the OSC 18v Vecturo. Still need an angle grinder and rotary hammer.

I thought Festool bought Fein? The Slugger cold saw  got a while back shows up on my Festool warranty list, as does my Fein multi tool.

I got the Pliers set today. It has been on pre-order for a few weeks, shipped Friday. The outer box looked a bit haggered, but it was fine inside.

Not sure if they bought them, but they are also distributed by TTS down here.

Fein is still independent. They do share technology with other companies and Fein will be using Bosch battery tech in new tools.

KS60 set, couldn’t say no for £398

Wow, those are some amazing prices. I can't decide whether to be impressed or annoyed!

I wonder if it was a one-off sale? Hopefully they'll repeat it!

I wish I had ordered more things. I should have got the OF2200 and I think the midi extractor was £200. I thought they would have cancelled the order saying it was priced wrong.
