What Festool Did You buy Today?

The CT 36 AC just arrived from Festool Recon. It arrived double boxed as usual and appears to be in like-new condition. The black hose has been used as there is some small amount of residual drywall dust in it...just a few specks really. The CT 36 on the other hand is spotless, I can't find a speck of drywall dust or even dirt anywhere on the vac. Even the bottom of the casters are clean.  [eek]

The black 36 mm hose is extremely flexible and also very light in weight. Much more flexible and lighter than even the newer braided 36 mm hoses. That was a good choice Festool made for use with the Planex. Just a real nice piece of equipment.

The only disappointing feature is that Festool priced 5 each of the fleece filter bags at $53 and 5 each of the simple plastic dust liners at $51. I get why they did it but that is still annoying. I was going to use it like a cyclone and just run plastic bags all of the time but I'm rethinking that option. The fleece filter bag does provide a filtering means and prevents the HEPA filter from loading up as quickly.

Here's what a $10 plastic bag looks like.

Got my TS55F riving knife (1.8) from special order today.... now to shove it in my old TS55R :P
Also picked up an extra MFT rail.  It's heavy by itself - now I know where the table gets its weight from.

Cheese, sooo.. you don’t like plastic bags eh? Even if they come in a box with Festool written on it  [big grin] [big grin]

I noticed on your photo that you haven’t routed the exclusive Festool plastic bag liner INSIDE of the contact points for the motor head - These are also for the antistatic zap!-a-circuitry..
I only have a CT26 AC.. I think the bags are 1/4 the price of those to the 36.. 😜

Now Festita...that's funny because that's not my photo, it's directly from the Festool website. Click on the 2nd photo.  [big grin]

I really only wanted a CT 26 AC but that's not available here.  [sad]

Ya, those plastic bags should really be a $3-$5 item instead of $10. However, if that was the case, then you'd have folks like myself using the vac like a cyclone and not purchasing the Festool fleece bags or the Festool long life bag or the Festool CT Cyclone.

Mine came yesterday. It appears to be completely unused. One of the front wheels was bent enough that it wouldn't pivot, so I took it off, straightened it out, and now have a nice new big dust collector. I hadn't looked at the price of bags yet, so that is a bit daunting. Good thing it'll take awhile to fill it up! The wife was going to the board store for Osmo. I had her pick up a Bluetooth module.

I sold half of my Planex to my partner so this'll probably go live at his shop. That, or I'll park it under my workbench and sell him the CT26 for a day to day DC.

I was only kidding - For the models with AC I believe the CT36 is THE most sold models here too.
I wasn’t after an AC model, but a “regular” CT26 - and this came along unused priced as a lightly used regular CT26, so I bought it [embarassed]. I hope I don’t get to use it for drywall or concrete.. it’s just a mess.. and the filter clean afterwards despite the AC 😖 Tacky stuff.. I’d rather stick to the fleece bags and only have the AC as an option if and when..

I’ve got the cyclone.. ditched the plastic bag there as well - works great with wood dust, will only use a plastic bag with concrete or if and when with drywall. Did I mention I don’t like drywall? 😂

Just now recovering from cleaning my old CT 22e after the paper bag sprung a leak. What a nuisance and it was only wood dust! Took a half hour at least and now my new HEPA filters are compromised. It seems you can never get them completely clean.

Using a vac without a bag seems insane when the only filter is the expensive pleated kind.

If you need to replace the HEPA filters, Hartville has them on clearance...

Ya, I'm with you Festita, for the 50 cents price differential between the plastic bag and the fleece bag, you'd be foolish to choose the former for your dust collection endeavors and subject the HEPA filter to more potential risks. The plastic bag thing is just an alternative consideration for very trying applications.

I like the vac...but it does make you jump the first time it cleans itself.

Well out of the blue this showed up today..
I’ve had thoughts of this being a nice vac for the house. Last time (a good time ago..) I waited too long, and it was gone.. Now I didn’t wait!

It doesn’t take a systainer on top but it’s compact, relatively light and has even a blower at its rear  :o ::) [big grin] And it sucks at variable speed too.
I need to order bags and a foam filter for water collection, but otherwise it’s like new.

Yes, it’s ridiculous.. I get that the plastic needs to be tough, and you have the bag connection to the hose and the membrane, but still..
You can buy the regular CT 2X filter and use that for the fleece bags, that way you can clean and dry out the AC rated filter while using the standard filter and bags for everything else..

Oh yes, that THUMB is pretty loud .. the tub and motor head get beaten pretty violently..  [blink]
Nifty drum..

Well it turns out lied to myself about the slowly slowly bit on a previous post lol

I spent Sunday trying to work out whether id be better of getting the OF 1400 or the new 36v Midi.

I wanted the router but i had a situation at work on friday where i did not have enough extension leads to plug in my normal Midi to use it, and i had moment where i realised i can and probably should just use the batteries from the track saw i got recently so i can go the "cheap" version :).

However i have this week off, so i ended up with the router as i want to change some of our aging cupboards to draws, and thought that would be better than another vacuum.

I am honestly surprised by how quiet it is. After using the the DF500 and track saw today, the DF500 is almost the loudest thing in my shed, and that includes the KS 120 REB.

The only thing that annoyed my was having to change the plug-it lead attached to one of my hoses, as i found out there are 2 different plug-it leads today. Both say 1mm but only 1 fits all machines and i had the smaller of the 2 velcreod up. After a bit of searching it was clearer as to why.

[member=78392]Crispy[/member] Nice score! The 1400 is a sensational machine, I love it!

You planning on the 2200 next? ;-)

No, i think the 1400 will do me for now, especially after spending enough money on those 3 festool items in the last two weeks, that i could have purchased the intercooler kit i want for my GS ute instead, but that only gets driven on the weekends maybe.
I also wouldnt be able to justify that to my wife before she would threaten divorce [big grin]

In saying that I want to get the LR32 system kit, the 1400 lr32 rail and the collet to use it all.

I worked it out earlier, in the last 3 years ive spent over $12k AUD on festool stuff.... enough to get above said intercooler kit, and rebuild and strengthen the ZF 6speed in my ute too........i didnt realise it was that high till tonight. [blink]

You guys have that too? I thought it was a strictly American affliction, because of our 120v power?
For us, the lower amp drawing tools get a lighter-duty cable, which will not fit into the higher amp tools.
The theory is that the lighter cable is more flexible. In practice, I have never noticed it.
Since I run everything through a CT, I just keep one of the heavier-duty cables connected to it and just swap tools at the tool end.
The lighter cables are just stored in a drawer, to not confuse them.

I wondered about that, too. I assumed all 220/240v countries had one Plug-It like the advertising implies; just us with our need to be special have 2. But Australia is 220/240 also. Killed my theory, like most things in Australia want to do.

I have a box labeled "Festool Orphans" in the shop loaded with the tabbed Plug-It cables. Wish they had an option (like the holey rails) to pay a bit extra to swap out the tabbed Plug-It for the actual single Plug-It.

My ophaned drawer is pretty much full too.  It's okay though, my beautiful wife says my stuff will be, "free to a good home".

I have some edge banding to do coming up ,sooo
a new Mfk 700 kit.

I thought I had a bit that would work, but it’s to long for the 1.5 deg plate.
Ordered the Festool bit when I got home.
My local Rockler ( where I picked it up) didn’t have any bits.
Cheers,Charlie
