What Festool Did You buy Today?

I started drinking the green koolaid a couple of months ago and made my first purchase of a CT-36 off of the recon site.  A week later found an unused RS-2e for $250 on FB marketplace.  I now obsessively watch FB marketplace.

This morning I saw an ad for an OF1400 EQ-F-Plus that looks brand new for $550 (local purchase on FB).  The seller states it was only used once and that it includes the rail guide that is no longer included in the new kits.  One of the biggest reasons I want to buy a 1400 is the dust collection since none of the 4 older porter cable routers I currently own has any dust collection.

I offered $500 as it was as much as I could go and he accepted.

That has to be the last for at least a few months.  I am weak :)

I grabbed one of the new open top tool boxes as the 2 older versions I have are filled with sanding sponges & sand paper in one and epoxy supplies in the other. This time around I'll attempt to actually fill this one with tools instead.  [smile]

Just got the long open toolbox also, and another new 32/27 for use in my house.  The toolbox will be the third for me as I hate digging for tools, perfect for my Wera tool rolls and packs

And you managed to smash the level in the handle?
Did it slide in or after some chisel smoothing?  [big grin]

The toolbox is ok, but I like the box shape of the older ones better..

Haha! I got a good laugh Cheese  [big grin] [big grin]

But as long it will work..
I have thought of a separate route, in addition to bringing the arsenal of files and chisels  [wink]
- I just need to wait for that item to arrive first..

You gonna share? I think I have all the necessary equipment, with the possible exception of that freakishly long drill bit.

Jeff that freakishly long drill bit is the magic...you need to reach at least 7" into the handle to clean out the reinforcement ribs in the center of the handle. It's an aircraft drill bit used to drill holes in weird locations, it's commonly available and I use them often for installing 2X structural members with screws. In this case I used it as a burr to clean out the interior ribs of the handle.
So the heavy lifting was done with the drill bit used as a burr while the long files smoothed out the interior cuts. I initially tried the chisel and that was pretty crude to say the least. I then went for the files and if I live for another 20 years...maybe they would produce a finished product.  [blink]

Ultimately, clean out the short sections with the chisel, then beaver out the ribs with the aircraft drill and smooth out the interior with the files.

FWIW...the files in order are: Pferd Corinox #0 stainless file, Pferd aluminum #0 and a Nicholson body file.

I bought one of the Systainer 3 sets off recon winter before last.  When it all showed up, I thought, "what the heck am I ever going to use this open-top toolbox for?"  I'm not a big fan of milk crates or anything open top.  But once I started using it, it became invaluable right away.  The folding handle, which I know people seem to get upset about, is perfect.  I can throw another Sys on top of the stack as a lid between the shop and jobsite.

160mm TSC55 blade for cutting fibre cement sheet. Insanely expensive, but makes a crappy job pretty easy.

Oh this forum is brutal...so as I read WastedP's response, for some reason it sounds kind of familiar and I decided to go downstairs and see what I purchased at about the same time about a year ago...and at the bottom of the Systainer 3 stack, was a new open-top toolbox...something I decided I'd never use at the time, which is the reason it was at the bottom of the stack...but something I now decided I desperately needed to purchase this last weekend for $80.

Dipped my foot in the dust extractor pool by purchasing a CT15 this weekend. It's inspired me to rearrange my garage workshop for better flow and cleanliness.

You ain't seen nuthin' .... my longest and freakiest bit is 24mm (almost an inch) in diameter and 1800mm (almost 6 feet) long. It's used to drill pipe and cable holes through the yard-thick stone-and-rubble walls on the many 16th and 17th-century homes near where I live.

It only comes out of the van maybe 2-3 times a year. But every time I use it, I wear sunglasses, boots and a leather jacket, I speak in an Austrian accent, and I complete each hole with the phrase "I'll be back ........."

That’s a drill bit… [scared]

The longest bit I have is just 3/8” diameter and 4 feet long. It’s called a “bell hanger’s bit” and is made for drilling holes through wood to pull little wires for doorbells.

Richard, my wife's a patient person but even her patience will become strained once this Estate Sale thing needs to happen.  [smile]  My best friend Don (RIP) passed away a few years ago and his wife had to liquidate a 50' x 50' outbuilding packed with toys. Everything from a Ski Nautique to anvils, cars, petrolinia, motorcycles...oops and even a 1950's Ford dump truck...who doesn't need one of those sitting in the driveway.  [big grin]  I guess that's better than having to liquidate Hummel figures.  [smile]

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] I know what you mean about the Hummels - my elderly mother has a whole pile of them which I nervously eye every time I visit. Even the ‘super-rare 1962 limited edition’ ones are worth pennies. A charity store donation, I think.
