What Festool Did You buy Today?

What's the pen outline of the jigsaw connection about?  Thinking of taking a bandsaw to it and using it as a jigsaw blade?  [eek]

I think that blade costs as much as 3 electric carving knives from the local Goodwill store (I kept one for actually carving meat), but I suppose those aren't cordless like the recip saw is.

Of course, if we could just get the ISC240 over here, it would all be a moot point...

Hey [member=75217]squall_line[/member] a very large jigsaw blade it will soon become.  [smile]

I'm installing mineral wool insulation in the garage and the problem is the wider batts (23") are only available locally in pallets of 12 bundles each. In my situation I only need 6 bundles @3.5" thick and 6 bundles @5.5" thick.  [sad]

My solution is to "slice" some of the 5.5" thick batts into 3.5" thick batts. That SR 400 blade works really slick on a Sawzall so I'm fitting it to a P1 cc and then running it on the Mafell rail. Slice halfway through the batt, rotate the batt 180º and slice through the other side.

I looked at the ISC 240 very seriously but the max depth is only 350 mm and I need to make a 600 mm cut.

Got the ETS125 from the recon site.  Looks to be brand new.  It has some superficial scratches on the case near the speed adjustment dial.  Otherwise the unit is perfect.  So far I am 3 for 3 buying from Festool Recon.

The label on the systainer had a round yellow sticker on it.  The systainer for the TSC55 I got last year had the same sticker on it.
Probably Festools way of marking scratch and dent units.

I think they put the yellow dot on there after doing their QC.  The few items I've received without yellow dots also seemed to have some pretty serious issues with either missing accessories or dirty tools.

Sys3 tool bag and the new Sys3 Sortainer2. Will be interesting to see how much I can get in the bigger drawer, though I'm not sure what I'll store in it yet.

[attachimg=1]Found a guy on FB Marketplace moving and seriously moving an ATF 55 E and CT 22 E for what I thought was an astounding price. Cost less than my pair of IsoTunes Link Aware headphones!

The saw itself has been used a bit because there's some pitch on the blade and old dust between the handle and the blade housing, I asked the owner if he had the hose. He said he did not. The electrical cable is still wound and wrapped with original twist ties. I got it home, watched a Sedge video on how to open it - because it did not readily open after unlocking the clasps on both sides. Pulled it harder, it popped open and there was the hose - still wrapped in its original plastic and a folded filter bag. Darned thing had never been used!

Good find! BTW, I just 3D printed a dust port update for my ATF 55 that converts from the rounded rectangle to round that accepts the end of the CT hose without fighting with it. (Including the internal twist lock bumps that match the current hoses) I found the file online.

Sounds like a great find too! I'll search for it. Thanks

That CT 22 is a work horse...I purchased mine in 2008 and it's still going strong. It's used for all sanding chores and general shop clean up. Just gather a supply of Festool dust bags and purchase an extra HEPA filter as they are still available.

Once the HEPA's are unavailable from Festool, the bad elements in society introduce themselves.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] I'll do that. Was a bit surprised to find the CT22 bags to be quite a bit more than the MIDI bags though!

Well the CT 22 bags contain at least 1.5 times the material of the MIDI bags. That may be part of the price difference.  [scratch chin]

I just know that when Festool obsoletes these items, prices go up pretty quickly and then the bottom feeders show up.  [blink]

What's the build date on that beast? (the saw)

My CT-15 is a few years old and still has the original ties on the cable too. I use it with a retracting extension cord, so I have never needed to unwind it.
My CT-26 is mostly stationary, but it does have the cable wrapped around the brackets on the back, occasionally getting one or two loops unwound. [huh]
But they both have the hoses in use  [big grin] How could a guy own that thing for so many years and never question it? What did he use?  [eek]
Certainly he didn't own it all that time without changing the bag? [scared]

I just printed a file I found to provide the same to my old RO 150E...

The original owner was a pretty interesting cat. Seemed a little bit wacky but said he owned a cabinet shop that did a lot of government work. Said he used the CT22 once, but I seriously doubt that. Don't know if he was much of a Festool user but he's moving out of his house and this was sitting in the corner of the garage when I arrived.

Like I said, the power cable is still coiled and wrapped with the metal twist ties. The 15A adapter whip feels a bit stiff but I don't know if they were like that to begin with. After unlatching the sides, I couldn't get it to open so I stopped - fearing I might break it and watched some Sedge videos to make sure I was doing it correctly.

When I gave it a bit of force, it popped open and this is how it looks!

He may have "looked" at it, but that's definitely an unused extractor. LOL My CT-22 is still kicking but now dedicated to the Kapex. It's a good extractor and you'll enjoy having it.

I had the Milwaukee M12 Installation Driver but was never a fan of the very high pitched whine if you tried to get the drill to rotate slowly or the inability to get it to turn gradually:

(See 1:54 into this video)
=x0Z2NwXPlfjKQ7ki

or of the fact that the offset chuck is magnetic only so you are constantly leaving your drill bit or driver tip in the material/screw and have to retrieve it by hand.

I had played with the CXS 12/18 at the same store and eventually just gave in and returned the Milwaukee and picked up a CXS 18 Kit along with the EX-UNI offset head and the 1/2" chucks, (both the plastic and metal, haven't decided if either is going back yet.)

I also picked up a spare Fast Fix Centrotec chuck as well as two of the Festool 205097 adapters, as most of my bits and drill bits are hex.

Now I'm just working through my 30 day trial, trying to decide whether the refinement is worth the $850+ price difference as compared to the Milwaukee.

I wholly endorse this.  Maybe it's just my glut of Fast Fix Centrotec chucks (from other drills, in Centrotec sets, etc), but I've found Centrotec "bit changes" (drill to driver, especially) to be faster just removing the chuck with the bit still in it and putting the other bit on in a second chuck.  As a bonus, the Centrotec chuck stands up rather nicely on its own.

It's pretty much a necessity if using a non-Centrotec drill bit, in any case, as you'll pull the Jacob's chuck off and drop the Centrotec chuck on to drive.

YMMV.

RTS 400 ordered this morning. I have a multitude of "Yellow and Black" sanders, however, their dust collection capabilities are minimal at best.

Good score [member=82312]onocoffee[/member] on the CT 22, that's a new vac.  [smile]

FWIW...Festool offered a hose garage for that vac, 494388 keep an eye out if interested.

[attachimg=1]

Maxsys offered a remote control module for it also which was super easy to install and works well.

Look for Vlies vac bags rather than the paper version. The brown paper version seem to "brick" easier than the Vlies version.
