What Festool Did You buy Today?

And I wish we in the states had easier access to better quality portable drill stands like the one on the right hand edge of the right photo above.
I have a great DUSS stand now but it took years to find someone selling one here.
I've been looking at the Wabeco line...how would you compare those to Duss?

Before I found the Duss, I had looked online at both Duss and Webeco.
There are a lot of options in the Webeco line and the prices are much lower for a similar size stand and I would have bought stuff from Webeco but I never found a comfortable way to buy.

The Duss I have is the KB 43 and it is currently the only stand of it’s type on the Duss website but I seem to remember seeing at at least two versions (with different length/height posts) ten years or so ago.

I’d like to have some of the various drill mounting options available on Webeco stands but I have no complaints about the Duss. It is heavy enough that it stays where I put it and it’s extremely robust. The post is not very large in diameter (36mm) but it is solid. The direct quill travel is 120mm and the post (26mm solid) that carries the 43mm collar can be inverted so I haven’t found it incapable of any drilling task so far. One of the first times I used it was to drill 2-1/2” holes with a Forstner bit through already installed white oak. I couldn’t clamp the drill stand in place so I put it on a thin high durometer rubber sheet and applied a little extra pressure by hand. The Duss never budged and Metabo drill never complained.

The weight distribution looks like it's been well thought out, how are the ergonomics and balance in use?
Did a few more edge-trims (roundovers) with it tonight and I maintain my view that it feels a bit top-heavy. You need the right grip to ensure it does not tip over. Pretty sure I'll get used to that, but at least for me it will take a bit of practice.

Also, the switch is great for turning it on, but a bit fiddly to find quickly to turn it off I think. That leads to another slight behavior-change that I need to get used to, which is to remember to turn the router off before removing it from the workpiece. Otherwise you are fumbling for the switch while the bit is fully exposed and still spinning which I can see leading to all sorts of potential dangers.

Other that this very happy with both power and dust collection, and nice that I can switch between plunge routing and edge-trimming without having to switch anything except the extraction hose.

Recently pulled the trigger on the RTS 400 that seems to rotate on Recon.

Just checked and they're selling the CTC MIDI for 50% off... I think I'm good with my CT MIDI. ;)

I got the cxs 12 today, i like the hand feel. I hope they make some 12v tools. Fully open it is Aztec death whistle, i do not regret it though.

I saw that RTS floating, I think you will enjoy it. Both the RTS and DTS are just solid sanders

Bought the CSX 18 Basic today at a Festool roadshow. Was disappointed there were no specials or discounts or anything, but I'm really happy with the drill, it feels like it punches above it's weight.

Look how lonely it looks in its big systainer!

Wanted to get the KHC 18 as well but none in stock, so that'll be one for later.

The KHC-18 seems to appear about once a month on recon. That's how I got mine. Set a keyword notification in @4nthony 's slack monitor.

That is indeed disappointing. Over here, prices at the roadshow are usually roughly 20–30% below the recommended retail price. Congratulations on your latest acquisition — the CXS 18 is by far my favorite drill to use.

Yeah, I've been to a lot of trade shows and events over the years with great discounts and giveaways so this was a surprise to me, even the fact there was no merch and the rep couldn't answer any questions. The whole thing was like an afterthought really, very poor.

But I love the CXS 18 and can see why it's popular, very nice ergonomics and surprising grunt, it's got me thinking about the 12v version for even finer control on more delicate work now.

I think it’s also the perfect companion for the MB 40. The more linear force vector provided by the C-grip improves accuracy slightly.
Good point! I didn't think with several drill presses the MB 40 would be of use to me, but while working on some kitchen cupboards recently it would definitely be useful.

I have the original CXS and love it. So comfortable in the hand and it does everything. At a Festool Demo Days event, they had the new CXS 12v and what I immediately noticed is that my fingers get crunched in the handle. As in the four fingers that go into the C: on my original CXS, they aren't cramped together. With the new CXS, my pinky doesn't make it to the handle. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, go see one at a store to see how it feels in the hand before ordering one. The 18 had plenty of room.

Good point, the new set is pretty cheap, around $820 or so, but checking the grip beforehand is a good idea. I know of one store that might have stock I can try first.

Bit harder for us in OZ, most stores only stock the top few really popular Festool items, and order in the rest. Even at the store the roadshow was at yesterday had maybe a dozen items total in stock.

I'd been wanting a mobile stand for my Kapex so when the Recon site listed one, I jumped on it. Woe to me, I didn't pay enough attention to the fact that it was the UG-KS 60 Stand for the Kapex 60 saw. I realized this just before it was delivered, but items from the Recon site are not returnable.

My first thought was that I could acquire a Kapex 60 saw to match the stand which would be a nice acquisition to the shop but a bit pricey just so I could use the stand. Then I realized that the basic stand was the same item for the two saws with only the saw mounts being different. Bringing up the EKAT, I found that I could order the mounts for the Kapex 120 and I'd be in business. Total cost for the new parts and the price of the Recon Stand was only slightly over the cost of a new stand so I ended up not out too much. And now If I pick up a Kapex 60, I have the base to mount it to the mobile stand as well.
