It's about 700 square feet of flooring in a condo.  I have the kapex, ts55, mft/3, ct 26, Jigsaw, and multimaster.  The space is limited.  Just wondering if the kapex would just be in the way.

for any flooring i do i dont use a chop saw.
i find it hard on the edge. i prefer to use the jigsaw. if the flooring is unfinished it would be very handy but not vital.
almost all of the edges will be covered by skirting.

Someone had posted pics a while back about how they do laminate flooring with a jigsaw and a 5-gallon bucket, using the bucket to catch the dust and offcuts.  Seems like a pretty simple solution to me.

Jigsaw, carpenter square (to use as a straight edge), ct26, and the multimaster.

thanks,  some times i feel the need to bring everything but the kitchen sink.  less is more.  I well try the bucket idea.

I do floors among other things. Kapex is great to have, in fact would not go to the site without it. Never had a cut issue with it. Also wont you need it for the baseboard? The TS 55 with rail is great if you have straight wall to trim to. [big grin]

Cheers,
Steve

When I do a laminate job I bring my CS70 for cross and length cutting and a jigsaw for special shapes etc. All I need. And the Ct26 of course for dust collection.

Since you have a Kapex and TS55 those two will do fine instead of my CS70, use the TS55 for cutting in the length and the Kapex for cross cuts. I most certainly wouldn't leave the Kapex at home because it will greatly speed up your work.

The quality of the cuts isn't important with laminate flooring, because you're supposed to hide them all anyway, under those little strips you place against the wall.

i just use a jigsaw for laminate but i would end up taking

jigsaw
vac inc cleaning sys
ts55 incase i need to trim doors
t15 to remove doors
multimaster

if there is new baseboard the kapex
if its scotia id cut by hand but pin it on with a 23g pinner so will need compressor aswell

i have all them in the van anyway so would just keep nipping out to get whatever

Dang- and some folks think Festool is expensive?  I just took a look at Timberwolf Tools' site, and that Mafell KSS 300 setup is $860!!    [eek]

I have another smaller floor job tomorrow about 900 sq. ft.

I use pretty much the same tools on all floor jobs. Miter saw with stand, CT or Midi, jig saw, Bosch multi-x since its cordless, jamb saw, chisels, scribes, 58 and 48 ounce hammers, flooring blocks, router, caulk gun and glue spreaders, rags, glue, TS55 and long enough rail to rip to sizes needed.

Depending on thresholds I may have to make my own T moldings and step downs, so in that case my hand help planer and bench top table saw will go as well.

Install base when done, I do not use shoe next to base unless client wants it or the base is vary tall and ceiling height calls for it...

Thanks for all the ideas.  Looks like the kapex is coming and the ts 55.  I may make a small table to use for long cuts and ts 55.  Has any only used the spliter for ct vacuums.  Thinking about having them both hooked up.

Depending on how much you're cutting with your circular(miter/chop) saw(s), you might want to consider a TC grind blade. ATB blades wear out pretty quickly in most composite flooring materials.

The Kapex and TS saws come stock with ATB blades, whose tooth configurations are optimized for natural wood fibers, not man-made super-stuff.

Thanks, that is something I need to get.  I have the stock blades, still.
