What Kind Of Router Bit?

Looking good.

How is tear out on the bottom with the routed holes?  And what bit did you end up with?

Tear out is minimal to clean actually, you can even see a couple of the bottoms that were cut out in the second picture next to the Quick Clamp. I stayed at speed 4 (of 6) and plunged slowly taking around 20 seconds to make each hole. I'll rout the bottom edges of the holes as I did with the top just to make it all clean. I picked up a Bosch 3/4" straight carbide bit which cut through surprisingly easy. Surprising because I figured the Colt would struggle with the large bit through 3/4" material. Still though, I thought it would be best to take it easy and take my time.

Nice work.  I'll be interested to see if you will actually be able to use the grid pattern to find true 90 when you set up cuts.

Yeah me too. I'm sure I'll make a few of these and figure out what works and doesn't. At this point I'm really just excited the Quick Clamps fit. I'm definitely gunna be purchasing a few more.

Here's a quick update. Still have to do some stuff on the opposite side of the handle (top area) and also create some support blocks. May even get a folding table mechanism to mount it on. I'll keep you guys posted.

It's hard to make out from the picture, but did you chamfer the edges of the holes?

Yeah I did. I didn't do the bottom yet though. Should I bother?

I wouldn't be the one to ask, since I've never done my own MFT.  If chamfering gives you added benefits on top, you could do it again on the bottom if you ever flip it over for a fresh work surface, though I suppose that can wait until you actually do the flip.
