What - non Festool - tool / workshop related gizmo/stuff did you buy today?

Yes, but then it burns at half-brightness, right? And probably takes even longer to charge.

The specs says battery is 4 Ah x 7.3V and the DC adapter is only 5V 2A. So... (4x7.3)/(5x2) = 2.92 hours. Add losses = 4 hours. Now since the battery is only 29.2 Wh and that runs the light for just under 2 hours... it's 15W. So the DC adapter can't even power the light for 100%.  :-X

Bosch sells these things too, but with 18V battery. With two batteries and even the slow 4A charger you can keep light on 24/7. Don't ask me how I know  [tongue]

Even midrange phones charge faster.

The first one -- $60! -- came from eBay or Amazon several years ago. The latest one from LV was sold out last year, and after months of waiting, the stock came back. This time I quickly snapped one -- this time for use at the drill press.

I rigged up a dust collection setup for my new DW735:

It should do a few things: get the hose out of the way of outfeed, give me a sizable place to dump chips, and keep any chips that try to escape in the 5 micron bag.

The elbow and bag are from Rockler. The hose is a nice short length from Amazon that stays rigid. The trash can lid with 'cyclone' (kind of) fittings is from Woodcraft.

Also received a Shelix cutterhead for the machine, which I haven't even used yet. I guess I let all the positive reviews get to me.

Hey Matt, make sure that lid is securely mounted to the trash can as the chip blower in the 735 really packs a wallop and that becomes a real mess.

Which Shelix, original diameter or reduced diameter?

OEM. I've since added some bungie straps to that lid.

On the topic of Shelix, this guy has done an above and beyond job testing the upgrade. What's interesting is the planer draws several more amps under load with the upgrade.

From Hammerstroke a box with TSO Products landed at my local post office today.

Hammerstroke provides a customer experience like I’ve not seen to often.
Apart from the obvious goodies from TSO Products, there’s a candy and two stickers.
In English the message is: “You cry only once”TM ..  [big grin] [big grin]

SmartConnect dogs and Power-Lock dogs soon to be put into action:

Well Festita....it certainly was a TSO kind of day for the both of us.  [big grin]  A pair of the new V2.0 flip stops, a pair of upgrade kits for the older flip stops and a pair of their new stainless clamps for use on the narrow stock rods.

[attachimg=2]

[attachimg=3]

I find the machine work on these small stainless clamps incredible for the price they charge. Stainless is difficult to machine because it work hardens and is very tough on tooling. Besides, the hex driver recess in the bolt head is a custom size (3 mm) so that all the bolts/screws on the track components can be adjusted with the same tool. This does embrace the "attention to detail" ethos.

Is the candy thát acidic?  [tongue]

A double TSO  [big grin] - That’s some nice upgrades Cheese.. No wonder why TSO have satisfied customers, or fans for that matter. What you point out that they have gone to the length of using the same hex head for adjustment - That makes a difference. A tool which improves workflow and increase speed is always welcome, a mindset that reaches beyond that is a long term winner!  [smile]

Coen.. my kitten found the candy very interesting to play with, now I don’t know where it is..  [scared] He has been lazy sleeping a lot today, maybe it was an all time highscoreliste him last night? 😅

Well it’s a new gizmo thread.. so here’s a bit set I have eyeballed for some time.
WERA is never wrong, and this really caught my eye.
The long bits are impact rated, love that it come with a handle - although I imagined it was the same size as my EDC Wera handle for my work trousers, but it was quite small.. my old handle to the right. And the inclusion of stubby ball end hex set ices the cake.  [smile]

I'm slowly dipping my toe in the water with hand tools. I've recognized power tools are not always the best option for final fitment and am looking forward to using this Veritas Low Angle Jack. My only other plane is a low angle block from Bench Dog/Rockler. I love that thing. I use scary sharp and a Veritas honing guide to keep it sharp.

This Jack plane accepts different irons for different tasks like smoothing, scrubbing, and should do nicely for shooting miters.

With that type of fat bitholder you need the longer bits more often. I still can't understand why they don't have more 'long bits' sets.

Agreed, but once I tried the locking bit holder, these became my standard. No more ripping the bit out of the bit holder. Still, I hold on to the old magnetic narrow ones.
A worthy mention here is the “standard” bit holder that comes with the TXS/CXS - this holds the bits very well, thanks to a very strong magnet (and tight tolerances). This usually sits on the Centrotec chuck. The Wera Bit Check Mini 50mm is also standard in my pocket, along with the handle. Since it’s so slim and compact, I do forget that it is in my pocket, and instead I’m looking for bits elsewhere..  [scared] [big grin]

Great choice; the first handplane in my collection.

It's my favorite bench plane, and I also use it on its side, as well as upside down. I switch the blade when dealing with reverse grain.

[member=57948]ChuckS[/member] I was thinking of picking up the toothed blade for it to use it for scrub work/rough flattening of high spots. There's three options: Coarse, Medium, Fine. I'm guessing I'd go Course.

I mounted some bright LED floodlights to my hose boom for shadowless cutting and sanding.
