CRG, were you cutting laminated stock? The bit looks worn out at the 5/16” depth.
What - non Festool - tool / workshop related gizmo/stuff did you buy today?
Maybe it does double duty as a CNC milling machine bit.
My preference with router bits is to order Whiteside (1st choice) or Freud (2nd choice), but I have bought Yoniko bits where the the Whiteside or Freud bits were too expensive to justify for one project. The Yoniko bits were fine. The nature of the purchase is that I don’t know durability. They rarely get used.
I’ve bought cheap bits in the past. The big thing to watch for is balance. If it is out of balance you cannot spin it at 20,000 rpm. I have not experienced balance issues with the Yoniko bits. They were all carbide tipped, so I would expect reasonable durability on wood projects.
Note: Amana and CMT make good bits too. I have bought CMT bits also. (5mm bit).

Yes, this was after approximately 180 feet of a full depth (3/8") and full diameter cut (big groove). Then a second pass taking about 3/4" more width, which intersected a groove cut into the edge. This allowed the rest of the material to fall off, rather than making more chips. That bit withstood it all, which filled the CT26 twice, even without chewing it all into dust. Because of the trapped part, I had to stop the router at the end of each cut.
These were laminated panels with a white balance sheet on the back. That was why I wanted to start with a fresh bit. I knew it was going to be taxing. The Triton router handles it well. I have thought about getting a mini powerfeeder for jobs like this, but I'm just not sure a 110v router could handle it? It would have to be on a separate circuit, but what happens if the breaker blows, or the router stops for some reason?
There are a few more to do, probably not until Monday though. They need to get the rest completely installed and get solid measurements.
This is toward the end of a nearly 2 year project. I have built a lot of stuff for it, and never seen any of it in person. Maybe once before it gets turned over?

When this item first showed up at the house I was absolutely stunned at how small it is. Holy Mackenole, (sound familiar) it takes up an incredibly small amount of real estate which makes it a dinner winner for small gauging tasks. The Noga is manufactured in Israel.
Here's a photo of a typical mag base stand, the real estate needed for these is the same whether it's Starrett, Mitutoya, Fowler or some Chinese offering.

The large mag base stands are necessary when using normally sized or large diameter dial indicators. The Starrett has a 150# magnetic while the Noga has a 50# magnetic. This mag base is designed to be used with small indicators especially those that have a dovetail mounting system.

With the traditional holders they offer a basic X-Y motion thing with some limited rotational ability. Notice the various positions the Noga can be put into with just a single twist of the dial.
So here's the secret sauce...the Noga has 4 joints that can rotate or revolve that are all controlled by a single adjusting knob.

The 4 joints are numbered 1 through 4...all controlled and locked by the single knob indicated by the red arrow.
The green arrow points to a fine adjustment knob that makes sneaking up to zeroing out the indicator a lot easier. Without the fine adjustment, that process is a lot more hit & miss.
The blue arrows point to the dovetail attachment points that are on the smaller indicators and that are easier to use than the traditional 1/4" or 3/8" rod attachment points.

I've got the same Starrett and it's definitely awkward to use. In addition to adjusting to zero, the magnet on/off button is stiff and difficult to push. Once it's set though it takes a hammer blow to displace it.
Mine has the segmented gooseneck indicator holder so it's somewhat easier to adjust. Love to have the Noga but I don't use an indicator often enough to justify it.
Nice add to the fleet.

The Tormach's are really nice machines, used to enjoy watching them in use on NYC CNC's channel. We didn't have them available in OZ when I bought my Taiwanese knee mill, although if they were around the price would have been pretty obscenely high anyway as all higher end imports were (and still are) then. I don't use it much but I do love using it when I do.

Last few years secondary machines jumped in price alot. Like under 20% of the current new price. For me hard part was learning cad/cam to work on these. For some reason that was my kryptonite lol
