Can you describe the difference between the three “joiners” supplied in this kit $300 kit compared to the standard $109 units?

Got some new piher maxipress clamps. They have handles that swivel to 90 degrees which are more comfortable for me to use.
They don't fit in the clamp racks I've made

Made my weekly stop at The ReStore and some old woodworker had gotten rid of his stuff.

Couldn’t find a brand on the protractor square but it feels sizeable, the brace is also very robust feeling, don’t know what that file-looking thing is but it’s three sided and smooth, I thought the chisel thing might have been a router plane blade but it’s not flat, and I couldn’t find the coffin plane parts but thought that if I do go to the CRAFTS NJ show this weekend, some vendor might have the iron.

Originally, and yours certainly fits that category, these tools were all hand made as they started with a 3-sided file because of the metal toughness. The file would be ground on each side on a grinding wheel to remove the file teeth and to produce a concave surface which yielded a nice sharp edge where the corners met.
At some point, maybe 15-20 years ago, these became commercially available and then were fabricated from file blanks to shorten the process and reduce the cost. I've made 2 of them and purchased 1 of them. They are still one of my favorite deburring tools despite having several Shaviv's and other items. They work exceptionally well on aluminum, for holes or edges...try it the next time.

I ordered an Incra masterlift 11 bundle ( it included a remote speed controlled router), and the optional cleansweep magnetic inserts last night.
It is down to 1499 currently, about 130 off with free freight.
I have wanted the Jessem version for a long while, so much so that i purchased the 800 wide router bench for my table saw about 3 years ago before Gregory machinery closed, in anticipation for future fun and games.

I had considered the Carbatec and Timbecon versions, looked briefly at the kreg version, and today found out sawstop do one too... all but teh kreg look almost identical.
And the Timbecon ( sherwood version) can be gotten with DRO and water cooled spindle... but id need to sell a kidney or a child.

You'll love the Masterlift, it's a terrific unit and handles sawdust buildup much better than the others. I went from the Carbatec, to the Sherwood, finally settling on the Masterlift myself, well worth every cent.

The Sherwood I found the absolute worst, needed to constantly clean the sawdust from the chain and sprockets and pillar threads so you could raise and lower it as it jammed really easily with just a little bit of dust. I see Timbecon's got it at $1200 reduced with the 1800W router, way too expensive for what it is and being so inferior to the Masterlift.

Just saw the Sawstop one, which looks like the Sherwood simply rebranded. Would have thought they'd have picked a better unit to stick their name on!

I was tempted originally by both, as the cost was wife friendly but had spent a crap load of money on other tools at that stage.
I do have the basic kreg phenolic plate version, with an ancient ( at least 20 yrs old) bosch router from my original makita tablesaw bench that did not get much love.
Changing the height, bits etc was frustrating that i never used it in the harvey plate.

Once again, cheers for reassuring me that i have gone the correct cry once path.

Got the metalworking "Kapex": an Evolution S14-MCS and its cart. My previous setup was a Makita cut-off saw (abrasive hot-saw) fitted with a Fein mild-steel blade and a Rockler router speed control. Worked well, until I really needed it. Basically, a double-tap on the finger control blew a fuse. I already knew I'd want the S14 eventually, so I ordered it Friday morning before going to a job... it arrived Saturday at 3:45. My front door was literally blocked with these two boxes!

I haven't cut anything with it as it's 2:45 am and I've had, um, a few IPAs. But now that this job is over, I'll play with it a bit over the next couple of days. The cold-cut blade I had on the Makita was a Fein. This saw comes with a fancy Cerment carbide blade. The Fein cut exceptionally well, so I expect the same of this blade. I do wish they'd let you choose the blade with the saw (a stainless blade), but that can be a shipping nightmare.

I'll likely have some 4+ inch C-channel remant/drop from the metal supplier to cut Monday/Tuesday for that job. Will see how it goes!

Fantastic score there Paul! I love my cold cut saw and yes, the Fein blade is the bee's knees!

I didn't read the manual for mine so didn't realise it's meant for roughly 12mm thick steel max, but I cut through so many steel bars from 40mm to 100mm diameter with the stock mild steel Fein blade!

The attached pic is about half of what I cut in one day, just look at the perfect shiny surface, and the pieces were barely warm to the touch. And no jagged edges, just amazing results, although I think I did push my luck a bit.
