I’ve gotten by for a long time without one, but I’ve reached a point I no longer have to get by and am looking for a little time savings.  Leaning towards the jet benchtop model sander, but thought it worthwhile to solicit your opinions.  If you have one what do you like or dislike about it?

I've got the Jet OES-80CS Oscillating 6" x 89" Belt Edge Sander and couldn't be happier with it. It is an unbelievable time saver and does a fantastic job. It's extremely powerful and with a zirconia belt it will grind anything down to nothing if you let it.

I didn't mount mine on the stand it came with, but put it on a trolley cabinet instead so I have storage space under it.

The only gripe I would have is the dust collection isn't as good as it should be, the shroud does get most of the dust, but a little sorta billows around, but I suspect on such a big belt it can't be helped.

I think it's fantastic value and a great performer, love it almost as much as my drum sander.

I've got the ridgid one.  It was pretty cheap and can use either belts or spindles.  Works well enough, but if I had the space I'd perfer a much bigger one with more power and a cast iron top.

The Rigid one is pretty decent, for what it is. It's not perfect, the storage "system" is flakey at best, but a dedicated stand for it could address that.
We have had one in a commercial cabinet shop for over 3 years now and it is holding its own just fine.
A long-belt edge sander would be much better, but is likely not ideal for a small home shop, especially if the spindle aspect is more important.

Whoops, just realised op was talking about the spindle sander, not the belt.

I have the smaller bench mounted Jet and it is really great. I tend to use the smallest spindle the most, and haven't changed the paper on it yet so it does last quite well so long as you don't overheat it. Performs really well.

No issues so far after 2 or so years, very happy with it overall, everything is still smooth and quiet. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again!

I have the Ridgid as well, the belt and spindles are nice. I generally only use it for cleaning up curved work including router templates. 95% of the time I have the belt on, since I can sand outside curves a little easier with it (especially with the pivot guide) and still do the inside curves with the end of the belt. I only use the spindles for the occasional small diameter inside curve shaping.
